Can anyone post it for me?

It's not anything you did wrong Forty-two. It's the type of video file you are trying to embed. It's not "message board friendly".

anyone that's interested can just follow the link as a "regular" link: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/barcelona-defender-dani-alves-bites-back-at-banana-racism-20140428-zr0q2.html

Yeah racism runs rampant in other countries as well.

I can tell you that in Mexico people discriminate against indigenous people. It's sad because they are the representation of our roots, but it happens.

We were just talking about that here in the office, a cw that has travel around Europe told us that Spain is a very racist country. A couple decades ago there was this Mexican soccer player that was also called names when he was playing in Spain, they called him "indio" or in English indian.

Racism is just basic human nature. We evolved in tribes. People who are like us - look like us, talk like us, etc - are of our "tribe". People who don't are "outsiders".

We will never be able to say, "well, got that racism problem licked! Now let's move on to something else." It will be a continuing effort.

I'm saddened because I really love Spain and her people. I can't see myself holding what one idiot fan did against an entire country, anymore than I would wish the rest of the world to hold it against the USA because of Don Sterling's comments. Racists unfortunately exist in every country, every culture, every ethnicity, every religion. It's a byproduct of ignorance and not being exposed to people who are different in some way than what one is accustomed to.

I agree Iluv.

I've had lot of friends visit Spain and all of them found the people to be lovely and gracious.

We are going this summer, I hope our experience is positive as well.

I don't think you can paint an entire country rascist by the actions of one idiot.

Wouldn't it be great if we COULD put them in one country and then avoid that country?

I would like to lock racists of different races in a room together, then record them. Then maybe they'd see that they ALL sound like jerks.

True, but the Europeans act like the Americans are so racist and and I think they have cornered the market on it.  I remember the Spanish basketball team pulling at the corners of their eyes to make an Asian eye.  When I am there this summer I hope I have a good experience too.  Last time I went I had a bad racist experience but it was by an American in Spain....I did a thread about when this woman asked me how my kids learn to talk "like that"

Oh god. I hope you don't have to deal with that type of ignorance this time.

Yes, it is true, quite a few Europeans like to spread around that "the Americans" are so uncouth, meanwhile they have the same problems in their own backyard.

I think the issue is that a place that is more homogenous is not going to have many issues with racism, b/c it's mostly 1 race. Whereas the US has from its beginnings had a multitude of races. So of course we have a history of racial tensions, because we have so many races and cultures and languages all trying to live side-by-side.
