Any entomologists? Name that bug!

This guy was wandering on my dining room table this morning. About 1/4" to 3/8" long. Moving very slowly. It looks like a spider that has a seashell around it. We are nowhere near a body of water unless you count my neighbors' dinky ponds. One is an upside down view. No, it didn't smash it but it IS outside now. Any ideas on what this is?

Darn it! I didn't even think of a tick and we live in the middle of the woods! Dumb me! On the way to search and destroy!

Winds, it didn't look red, it looked green. Not icky at all, just interesting.

Kina, I don't recall if you have dogs (I'm assuming you have a cat) but you may need to do a thorough tick check. B/c most likely that tick fell off of a pet.

Also, this is where you carefully take a tissue...and burn down your house. :)

hahaha...

no dogs, but yes, Julie slipped her harness yesterday when I had her tied up outside so she spent over an hour unsupervised ambling around our woods, so I'm quite certain she is the culprit and a thorough search has ensued, much to her displeasure.

I am used to dealing with ticks, I had just never seen an engorged one before. (and I really feel stupid for not making the connection!)

You probably blocked out the trauma.

On one hellish weekend, I pulled 12 ticks off of dogs. *shudder*

Really?! Is that a tick?

OMG I thought it was kind of a cute mini crab or something.

The thought of it being bloated gives me chills, gross doh

What kind of scary-ass bugs do you have in Mexico that makes you think engorged ticks are cute?!?  I am going to have to rethink my plans to visit your country!

It seemed kind of cute biggrin

I'm still thinking wtf to myself. We don't really see that many bugs in the city, but we do see lots of rats lol

If you squint your eyes and move your head 35 degrees to the right they look exactly the same!

LOL
