Well mine are already dying off slowly. Too many 3 days away from home that hit 90+ degree for their liking. They are my throwaway plants for a reason.
I suck at taking care of plants.
The lady that helps us with the cleaning is great with then and has kept our plants alive!
She managed to bring back to live a rose bush and an aloe vera plant.
LOL I love perennials, I just watch them return year after year and make sure I have the kind that take turns blooking so I have color all season long.
I agree just keep watering, they are hardy little buggers!

They are one of my favorites too. If you can get them to live long enough to send roots out beyond the little block of soil you planted they should do well. That's the tricky part.
I bought some MiracleGro soil that claims to grow bigger blooms than regular soil, so I hope that helps. The stuff that was in the built-in porch planters has been there for who knows how long, so I wanted to get fresh dirt for my poor doomed blooms.

For planters, the bagged soil is so much better than garden soil. When they get bigger in a month or so maybe you'll share some pictures? What color did you get? I got some dark purple, some yellow and some oddly patterned ones.
I am sure mine are suffering because they are not in a large enough planter. I have then in coconut coir half circle planters that are on the balcony railing.

I got the bright pink ones. Purple is my favorite color, but they didn't look as happy as the pink ones. I put them in the planters in the hopes the deer will ignore them.

also when you plant annuals you need to make sure hole is deep enough and break the little soil block they are in, just loosen it up so roots will grow, otherwise they can get rootbound despite having more room to stretch out. Also make sure when blooms die you pinch them off, so more will bloom. that way you have beautiful blooms and color all season~

My aunt taught me to soak the plants really well, and then to take a knife and slice the sides of the soil block so the roots will grow out.
Good for you, EmmDee. One of my black petunias is wilty looking and on it's way out. They were hard to find and now I have to go back to the plant store. Damn you, rolly pollies.
Well, it will be two weeks tomorrow that I planted my flowers. Not only are they all alive, they're thriving! A couple of the plants didn't have any flowers or buds when I got them, but they do now!
