Great, now we have a feud with the neighbors.

I am so mad right now I could scream. We're having Vacation Bible School this week, which is held in the evening. Yesterday, neighbor kids went screaming by on their dirt bikes. Someone went out and yelled at them. So today, they didn't come past the church while the kids were there, but they certainly made a lot more noise with them than usual.

Tonight, after all the kids had gone along with most of the staff, we heard the dirt bikes again. Our nineteen-year-old volunteer went into the hallway, grabs folding chairs, dragged them outside, and tried to block off the road. When we realized what she was doing, PM said she has to stop. Our road is not a private one and we can't go around putting up hazards.

AB had fallen asleep on me, so I took him home. As I stepped outside, I heard the boys yelling some F words and a girl yelled, "Oh go read a Bible." Some other stuff went on, but I'm not exactly sure what, as I just shook my head and walked to the house. With all the yelling going on, AB woke up, so of course, that just made me even happier.

Not long after I went in, I heard some loud talking, so I looked out the window. Four boys from the "trouble" house were walking down the street, complaining. I didn't catch everything they said, but the gist was they weren't happy. And you know what? I agree with them. We've lived here for three years and haven't had any problems with them. Yes, they make noise, but it's usually during daylight hours and they really don't bother anyone.

So thanks to one dramatic young adult, PM and I get to pay a visit to the neighbors' house We get to apologize to them and smooth things over and try to save face. Everyone always complains that out of the 7 houses on our block, only 2 families attend our church. (And the minister's family is one of those). Well, when you act like the very opposite of the people you claim to be, is it any wonder? Our very first lesson this week was Do Unto Others.... I think a few volunteers need to hear it again.

Maybe some volunteers need angry Jesus, the one who turned over tables?

She needs something. We had no more incidents, though.

How did it go? Did the neighbors accept your apology graciously?

We never did make it up to the neighbors during Bible School week. We had a lot on the schedule, and now I feel awkward bringing it back up. We haven't had any issues with them, though. If I see the parents outside while I'm taking AB for a walk, I will stop and chat.
