O.k. ...

Over on the Zetaboard there was a thread about a State representative who got banned from the room for daring to say "vagina"... so, in protest, she performed "The Vagina Monologues" (with the author present, no less) on the Statehouse steps. As part of the thread... "other names" for that body part came up... and one of them was "nook".

Now, every time I see someone saying they need help with their nook, or they took out their nook and wasted some time or got something new on their nook or pretty much anything nook related... well... the "12 year old boy" comes out and laughs.

I made a comment on that thread about how I would never think the same when I saw someone mention their nook again.

ETA: well... you DID ask...

Do you take the free book every week? I'm not very bright so it took me a while to find where they keep them, but ever since then I've been getting the free book every week. I'm a prolific reader so a book a week is perfect for me but I've found that taking the free book lessens my desire to pursue the works of authors that I admire. I'm assuming that's the goal of giving the books away. Anyone else her have a nook? Have any questions or nook related topics? I have one. Once you've saved something as a favorite, how do you delete it? I have an old website saved but I never go there anymore. I'd like to clear it from my favorites.

I had to laugh at the title of this thread.

It's not your fault though... it's the fault of a thread on Zetaboard...

Ahhh, I've never heard a vagina referred to as a nook but I have heard nookie used as a euphamism for sex so I guess it fits.

Ehehehe I said it fits while talking about vaginas.

Well when referring to that... fit is a good thing.

I'll restart it! My one sister just got a Nook. What's this about free book Fridays?? I want to clue her in!

Every Friday you get a free book. It's a nice perk. My friends with kindles only get one free book per month. Not to put a good thing down but if I was in charge of marketing I'd be more inclined to give 1 per month so if people liked the author or the subject they could buy similar books.

I've had my nook for nearly 11 weeks and I've only puchased two books.

In addition to free book Friday, there's also a list of other free books to choose from.

My other sister and I are visiting the sister with the Nook on Monday; tomorrow is her birthday.

I am so not technical. Does the Nook itself "know" there's a free book available (I can't believe I typed that sentence, LOL!) or do you have to go to a web site to get it?? I know nothing about this, and have no idea what my sister knows! :D

Thanks for answering my (dumb) questions. Appreciate it!

The nook only has one button. You press the button and a menu pops up. The menu has a shopping bag on it. Every Friday when you press the shopping bag and scroll through it, there is a free book.

Ok, cool! I'll make sure my sister knows this; she's only had her Nook since mid-May so maybe she doesn't. Thanks!!

To answer my own question and if anyone else was curious:

If you have a site saved as a favorite and you want to delete it, hold it down for a few seconds and a screen will pop up and ask you if you want to delete it or rename it or something. Voila'

I live two hours away from my nearest Barnes & Nobles but I do love coming here. They're so nice :)

Plus when you're in the store you can read books and magazines on your tablet at no charge! That's so much better than standing in the isles pretending like you're gonna buy it but just reading until your legs get tired LOL!

And you can read whatever you want and no one will judge you cuz no matter what you pick up you look intelligent. I put a fancy leather book cover on my baby with a quote by Oscar Wilde inscribed on it.

I bought it because it makes me look sophisticated but honestly I had no idea who Oscar Wilde was. I my nook.

The one I read on Richard. Although I the other one too. I'm not giving lessons on how to use that one. At least not over the internet.

OP, I get the free book usually--though, I do read what they are about and decide by that--I don't take every single one.

So I was in B&N the other day doing some stealth reading and I chose to read 50 Shades of Grey. You only get an hour so I got up to the part where they're setting up the photo shoot.

Because B&N is an 2+ hr round trip away in either direction, I don't get there often. But on Monday I had to take my butthead, oh sorry I mean my daughter into the city to get new glasses. During the wait I stopped into B&N. I connected to the in store network and it told me my free reading session had expired. *pghuh!
I'd just gotten there and comfortable. I turnrd my nook off and back on again. I walked outside of their signal range and re entered. I chose another book to make sure it was working (it was) and nothing I did would make it reset to the book I wanted to read.

I briefly considered asking a tech to reset it but then I thought 'like hell!' I didn't pay all this money for an e-reader with a fancy shmancy leather cover so people can KNOW I'm reading smut. Hahahaha! So that ended that.
