I just heard it in passing, didn't do research, don't know if it is a reality or just a discussing thing.
Just the idea, what do you think? Male or female robot prostitutes. I guess we already have male robotic parts. Is the jump to an actual robotic prostitute really that far? Is it beyond what you would ever find "acceptable"?
hamsterfun, I know, I have a shiny metal robot in my mind, not sexy at all
A shiny, metal robot would not give rise to any warmer feelings in me at least : ) I seem to recall reading something about very lifelike robots that could be used this way but I'm not sure. A Japanese invention?
There are two movies that I recall "robot playtoys" (one wasn't a prostitute, it was a robot girlfriend)
The movies were: "AI Artificial Intelligence" and "Cherry 2000"
In AI the story was about a robot child and his travels... and during his travels he meets up with a male prostitute robot (there is a little background on him, to explain why he needs to go on the run... that's how we find out he's a prostitute)
In Cherry 2000 there's a guy that lives with a robot as his girlfriend, her model number is "Cherry-2000", they start getting frisky in some suds and she short circuits. So he has to go on a trek to find another one (and on the trek he falls in love with "a real live girl" (played by Melanie Griffith)
As to the OP, If they were lifelike, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I think it's actually a good idea... considering how often women say "no" to men's advances.

oh yeah, god forbid a woman doesn't want to have sex with some dude they barely know. And if the problem is that a couple in a relationship has trouble sexually, chances are pretty good that a robot plaything isn't going to be any more acceptable than a random human pickup.
I figured you'd go with the "god forbid..." instead of the "yeah, at least that would give them someone that would say 'yes'." as was intended.
Thanks for not disappointing!
Where in my post did it mention how long the woman knew the man she said "no" to? Hmmmm? I didn't write any time frame, and I didn't see one magically appear after I hit post.

If you'd bother to actually read what I wrote, you'd notice that I covered BOTH 'time of knowing the person' scenarios.
And a robot isn't a 'someone' who can give consent.
Funny thing. I DID "bother to read" your post (I always read things I reply to, in full... I'm funny that way).
Where in my post did I limit it to a couple in a relationship? There are more than two possible "time of knowing" scenarios.
See there's the problem. YOU didn't "bother to actually read" MY post.
Since we are discussing robot prostitutes... the terminology "someone" fits, because the robot would be designed to look and act like a human. And, AI's actually can give or withhold consent... if they are programmed to.
