Share your unpopular opinions (not confessions) here!

Example - I agree with the attempts by Congress to control the uteruses of women everywhere.  (JUST an example, folks!)

This would be unpopular at my office. I wish we had a dress code. I am tired of seeing women in their 50's and 60's in shorts and flip flops at work. I don't want to see our director in cut offs and crocks - or in cut offs and no shoes.

I think Obama will be re-elected (I am not voting for him but I think there will be many who do).

Locally there is a "scandal" in a town not far from where I live where a NOW 24 year old woman has brought to the attention of the magistrate's office that when she was 15 she had a $exual relationship with the chief of police, the police captain and a now retired but then active captain of that town's fire company.

Well - even though I don't feel sorry for these men that this story is now coming out - they were adults and should have known better than to be with a minor - my unpopular opinion is - I don't feel bad for the girl either. She knew what she was doing. I don't care how old she was. Yes, maybe she had a crappy home life and maybe a history of abuse growing up, but when I was 15 I knew girls like that and they knew what they were doing and thought they were "cool" for doing it.

I detest our new garbage collection/recycling system. All this rinsing out cans, cartons and plastic containers, sorting etc is so time consuming and annoying!

Yeah Fraed that might have to change to a popular opinion because I would share it too. I knew girls like that too and they were no where near innocent victims of anything!

I'm kinda brain dead right now, not sure I have an opinion on anything popular or unpopular LOL...

Sorting into different bins would be a pain.  Our is one dumpster for all the recycling. I don't mind the rinsing though. When I had a dishwasher I'd just stick the cans in there with the dishes.

Sometimes "sun poisoning" refers to a bad sunburn with blisters, fever, chills and even shock. Wasn't there a case in the news recently about a child that had to be hospitalized because of sunburn?

It can also mean a condition in which someone gets hives from sun exposure and in some rare cases an allergy to sunlight. My sister gets hives and her dermatologist told her to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

ETA - Kapper you might have had heat stroke which is even more dangerous!

I forgot to mention in my original post that she hired a civil attorney and another (not-so-un)popular opinion of mine is that she is just now - 9 years later - realizing that maybe, just maybe, she can get some cash from this.

I don't think the "tanned" look is attractive on all people. Some people should just embrace being light skinned if that is their natural coloring.

hehe, my legs are quite white too. My arms have some tan on them because I am outdoors a lot year round and it still builds even though I try to wear sunscreen. I embrace my two tone look.

If they are someone you know, you can just mention that you've invested in sunscreen so you can look as good at [insert age at least 10 years older than they are] as they do now. :)

I have a cousin who is addicted to tanning. She's 35 and looks at least 60. I do not enjoy being in the sun. I had sun poisoning in high school and I feel ill if I spend too much time in the sun to this day.

what is sun poisoning like?

I had a friend that tanned a lot - she thought it was hilarious when people would mistake her for other races/ethnicities.

VERY unpopular opinion among my group:

We live in a rural area so sites like Craig's list are a good idea but impractical. So we have our own little version and everyone pretty much knows each other or each other's friends and family.

People offer free kittens on this site all the time. Well it was discovered that a few people were accepting the free kittens and feeding them to their snakes.

It caused a bit uproar in our little community. I don't have any kittens or snakes so I didn't give my opinion but if I had I'm sure it would have been unpopular.

dqm, that is actually why I have an issue with pets like snakes. I don't like the idea of animals being bred just to be fed to another animal. I know it happens for both food and medical purposes. It just makes me sad.

Ftr no one is breeding these cats. They are the result of irresponsible pet owners or they are found strays. Snake owners can't really breed kittens to feed to their snakes because snakes don't eat that often and the kittens have to be small enough not to damage their snakes.

The ones I know don't even breed rats. Even so someone made a list of the known snake owners and they pm it to anyone advertising free kittens.

Not at all and I completely realize my reaction to this is emotional and not logical.  It is not a rational opinion at all and I am ok with owning that.  Thanks for asking though.

What's with the bitchy 'Thanks for asking though"?  It's a pefectly reasonable question.  I didn't put any judgement on it at all, yet you feel the need to act all bitchy and snarky.

Thanks a hell of a lot for turning this formerly pleasant board into Stepfordsville.

I think this board is plenty pleasant. From my experience there are probably three people here who aren't pleasant. I'm really not even sure if it's that many.

I think the people giving away the kittens should be more responsible firstly in not letting their cats keep breeding like that, and secondly in giving the kittens away. Were they asking the recipients about their intentions? If not, they should have. If so, the recipients should have been honest.

I don't really like the idea of snakes as pets either.

dqm, to be clear, I don't think they are being bred for the purpose of being fed to snakes but it is my understanding that you can buy rats intended for the purpose of snake food.

Our culture is conditioned to see kittens and puppies as non-food animals. Many of us might find it horrifying that snake owners would feed kittens to their pets.

Reading about the snake that was gnawing on the baby's foot a week or so ago has cemented my belief that reptiles are not good pets. I prefer pets that are glad to see me when I get home, not ready to eat my children when I leave the room.

I am not "attached" to anyone. I do enjoy posting with Emm because she's NICE. Everyone but you has made me feel welcome on this board (and I appreciate them for that). I have seen the way you respond, even to new people so I don't think you are really very happy here. You only jump in to add snide comments. These are usually at Emm's expense and I realize you have a bad past with her but you also went off on Mom because you didn't agree with how she cares for her children. Please don't pretend that it's not what you are doing because I have followed this thread (and others).

Don't try the innocent bull****.  I understand you're trying to channel Ellinida here, but you do it even worse than she does.  Very few people are as stupid as you wish they were, and even fewer are as stupid as you treat them.
