A picture of my home town was JUST on MSN editor's picks. I saw it and tried to click on it then lost it that fast. It was something about mortgages but when I go into that story it's different pictures.
I guess the joy in where you live is dependent on what is important to you. Some people love NYC, I would personally shoot myself if I had to live there, it is too crowded yet I would love to visit. I would likewise eat a bullet if I lived in an open rural area, while I would love to visit, so few people around would be dull. I think where I live is just right for me for this time in my life. While it is too expensive for me to retire here it is great until I am older.
I lived by Niagara Falls for 2 years -- I think that was my favorite place of our travels. Tiny town - brick lined sidewalks, all small businesses, I could walk to the grocery store, library, Dr and the gym.
All the pics are gorgeous!! I grew up in a small town - 1 blinking light was it, about 2000 people total. Only 30 mins to a mall though so not too bad. I loved living in the country, gravel road and all. Having all that land to play on as a kid was awesome. Now we live in a city, nice neighborhood very close to DH's work so he comes home for lunch most days. I like it after living in apartments for so many years moving around, but do miss being able to see without houses blocking my view.
I visited NYC twice -- and would require massive doses of xanax to tolerate more than 1 or 2 nights there. I just get way too claustrophobic with the tall buildings and too many people!
