Yesterday, I realized that merely scooping the cat box wasn't going to cut it -- the box was just stinky!  So, I got a new 35 pound bucket of litter (practically threw my back out hoisting into the trunk of the car!), dumped the box, scraped it out, washed it out and refilled it.

The Girls circled and mewed the whole time their potty was missing in action.

While it was drying, I also thoroughly swept up and vacuumed the area it's in -- they both kick litter like crazy!

Refilled it, put it back in the corner.  Within minutes, I could hear major excavation going on!  katy -- 'cuz Bella was following me around fussing.

This morning, there is litter kicked in a radius of about a foot and a half all around the box....  eyepopping.gif

I'm going to have to try getting a covered box and see if that helps control the mess!

Ugh! Maybe you can train them to use the toilet instead. They both sound pretty smart.

Bella finds a flushing toilet to be incredibly fascinating -- runs to watch the water swirl around.  Katy finds the bathtub equally fascinating, but she shows no interest in the toilet.  I could give it a try, but since they excavate in the box, it might not suit them!

Right now, Bella is under the desk, trying to reach over the keyboard shelf and swipe things.  She's really dexterous with those paws!

I have the covered litter box and I think it really helps. I have two cats and they have always had one. Some litter still gets on the floor as it sticks to their feet but I put down a towel at the entrance and that picks up most of it.

They're both high on the Bad List this morning.

Four some reason, at 4a, they decided it was time to stomp up and down on me. Wrestle on the bed. Assault my feet. MMRRROOOOOWWWWWWW loudly. Take flying leaps from the dresser onto me -- I have bruises!!

When I got up and tossed them out of the room, they scratched the door, cried some more, then started knocking things over with huge crashes.

Got up again, yelled at them to 'knock it the f--- off!'  They both looked really startled.

Then, just to add insult to injury, at 7a, a deputy rang the doorbell -- 'bout scared me half to death!  Several cars on our street were broken into last night and he wanted to make sure there was nothing missing out of mine. There wasn't but I'm wide-frickin'-awake now.

The Girls are being very quiet and laying low.  For the moment.....

Try a top entry box as well. That helps. You can make your own out of a handy dandy Rubbermaid container and a box knife.

This also works if you need a box with high walls for a cat that refuses to squat..
