Took a while for me to figure out why I felt hot in my office, thermostat was set at 77, temp read 83. My a/c was frozen. I turn it all off and let it drip defrost. Turned it back on, same problem before I even got the temp to drop a degree. This is going to make for a long day if I can't use the a/c for the remainder of it. Any advice?
Fan is turning again. I washed out the evaporator coils?? I think. I washed the aluminum fin like structure and it had a lot of dirt in it from my yard. I have it on but am unsure if it is working right again.
You also might be low on freon (or whatever your unit uses... some use something more "environmentally friendly"). That's been the problem with mine in the past when they'd freeze on me.

Thanks winds, that is the first thing I did. I'm pretty sure I never got it completely defrosted. Definitely think the filter being dirty was an issue. Hopefully leaving it off over night will give it a fresh start in the morning. Richard, that's the next step. Its an older system so I bet its freon. Next step is talking to my cousin the a/c tech.
When ours would freeze up, it was low on freon. We had/have a leak in our system so kept having to have freon added. We were told that running it while low on freon could mess up other stuff in the A/C.
Hope that yours was just dirty and that it works great today :)
