It's only two years long, but if I keep crocheting at the same rate, it may be five years long!

One day, I shall have a lovely orange afghan to snuggle under while watching tv...one day....

Isn't it fun?
I don't know if mine is as long but when I am finished it will be the size of a queen size bed. It started as I was just wanting to practice double crochet stitches and ended up as long as our bed. Then DH asked if I would finish it for him. It is one expensive blanket but I have had fun with it.

The funny thing is, I thought I was doing a double crochet, but it turns out that I am doing a half-double on the back edge. Oh well. It looks nice! Eventually, it should fit on a twin-sized bed, but I typically only crochet in the fall and winter.

It's taken me a year, but I just finished a beautiful, single crochet, reversible afghan. DH figured that I have over 32,000 stitches!

It's gorgeous, heavy and in 5 colors (white, light country blue, country blue, steel blue and navy Caron yarn). I will be buried with it!

With my rotten hands, crocheting is a hit and miss hobby... more miss than hit.

I've seen some awesome crocheted sock, huck.
I've got a blanket in process for my son, and a sweater for another son. Both have been in process for a couple of years - other projects come up and take priority. As soon as I finish the baby blanket for my niece, though, I'll get back to the sweater; maybe he'll get it for Christmas this year.

Except that I saw the cutest pattern for a winter sweater, hat, and mittens that would be awesome for my grandson. :)

The crocheted socks I was making were from the top down and while they looked nice they were more like slippers than socks.

So I gave up and made slippers for everybody who might want some and a few who probably didn't (great moccasin style I found on Ravelry).  I just got this toe-up socks pattern and it is working up really well.

Sounds like you have plenty of projects, Winds, but I also found on Ravelry a crocheted hoodie in worsted for Small that is just great for school-age kids.  It's a pullover but easy to get on and has a big front pocket. I've made her two and she loves them.

I am crochetin orange socks.

Yes, I did say crochet. I am a terrible knitter so I have to resort to crocheting if I want nice birhgt handmade socks, which I do.

This is the best pattern I've come across so far.

Crocheted socks sound cozy! After I finish this blanket (or after I get tired of it) I want to learn some new stitches. My MIL is an awesome crochet-er (crafter? stitcher? hooker?) and has made some really neat things for the family. Last year, we all got scarves or hats (mine's a purple newsboy - so cute!) She even made a hamburger for her granddaughter. She's tried to teach me the shell pattern, to increase/decrease the gauge, and do a few other things, but it didn't stick. I have a bunch of tutorials and projects pinned on Pinterest, though.

that's a great looking hoodie, huck. My sister crochets 'real' items like you do, the best I can do is bibs, booties, and bath toys - nothing that requires real straight edges or even lines.

Booties and toys are really pretty challenging IME, Winds. Have you checked out Ravelry? Someone fromt he other board turned me on to it and it has an amazing wealth and variety of crochet patterns for just about anything you can think of. Many are free or downloadable for a few dollars, and people there have posted examples of most of the patterns made up so you get yarn and color ideas too. .
