Actually, she's working too, so that's good news.

She and her DH are going on a week-long beach vacation -- not sure how she would have leave time yet -- then to another week long gaming convention.  With all of the associated expenses.  He's getting Nationals play-off tickets too.

But they haven't made the last month's mortgage and car payments.

How is she getting the time off? (Don't remember if he is working) Is it that easy to get time off without pay?

They MUST have something else going on to facilitate their stays and lodging.

I think they must belong to some sort of travel club where they can redeem points for stays at hotels or vacations spots in their network.

I think I know what they're doing.

They tell all their friends that they're going to the beach for a week and they get a kick ass pad that would probably rent for $1,500. They invite two other couples along for the week and charge them $400 each.

They use $600 to get caught up on some bills and they take the other $200 for spending money. The other two couples are stoked that they got such a nice vacation at a great discount so they spring for dinners out or event tickets to show their appreciation.

She's taking unpaid time off. From the job she just started two weeks ago. While complaining that she can't afford to not be paid for this time, since she's not getting unemployment now.

They're putting it all on their credit cards. They don't like sharing hotel rooms with anyone else, so they have their own.

I am not responding to any of her 'poor, poor pitiful us, we're so broke' comments. I don't have an employed husband and was also out of work for six months. I never missed a single payment for anything, let alone house or car payments,
