I will share this one, though. I haven't made it, but it was submitted for the book and sounds AMAZING! I will definitely be trying it soon.
Cherry Bread
1 c sugar 2 c flour 2 tsp baking powder ½ tsp salt ¼ c nuts 8 oz jar cherries, halved 1 egg, beaten Juice from cherries, plus water to make 1 c 4 Tbsp butter, melted
Mix sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, nuts, and cherries in a large bowl. Make a large hole in center of bowl and add egg and juice. Mix well, then add butter. Stir only to mix. Bake at 350˚ until toothpick comes out clean. Makes 1 large loaf or 4 small ones.

I don't do any special cooking for Halloween and Thanksgiving is standard-issue turkey & etc.
I do have a lot of Christmas recipes that are special for us. Cookies mostly, and a fruitcake for people who don't like fruitcake. I'm at work and don't have them with me.
I would like it very much if folks posted their treasured recipes here.
I'm almost afraid to post the family favorite for holidays - fruit salad with ginger ale.
Just take your favorite fruits - I usually take frozen peaches, strawberries, blueberries and cherries - slightly thawed, pineapple chunks, and seedless grapes (halved). Pour enough ginger ale to cover. Do this an hour or two before serving so the fruit has a chance to finish thawing. When it's time to serve, add sliced bananas and more ginger ale. You can also use diet Ginger Ale - it doesn't get the funny aftertaste that mixing diet soda with sweet stuff usually does.
