Balsamic/garlic glazed green beans: So easy but a little somethin somethin :)

Cook your green beans and drain

Squeeze 2 roasted head of garlic into hot pan (when you roast the garlic, cut the head in half them drizzle olive oil and wrap in foil...the garlic will squeeze out like toothpaste!), add about 2 teasp balsamic vinegar and 1/4-1/3 cup olive oil.....mash together in hot pan till garlic broken up then toss cooked green beans in this. Dump in bowl and garnish with bacon crumbles
and go nom nom nom.....

You can use toasted almonds or pecans instead of bacon if you want...or along with bacon!

I'm looking for a simple recipe for green beans that DOES NOT include mushrooms or mushroom soup.....

It can be either stove top or baked.

Anyone? Help a peep out....biggrin

I have one, but it's on my desktop. I will post it tonight after AB goes to sleep.

Ha! about 6:30....be there or be square!

Now some some people think 2 teasp is too much balsamic so you don't have to add as much....I like them tangy though. I also roast green beans in this stuff too...you know when they
are sitting aorund and start to get woodsy? Roasting sweetens them up a bit. Same for carrots!

Here it is!  I've never tried this recipe, but I am going to for DH's family Christmas party.

Fancy Green Beans

3 cans green beans
½ stick margarine
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ c. brown sugar
4 strips bacon

Drain beans and place in casserole dish. In saucepan, melt margarine and add garlic and brown sugar. Simmer 5 to 7 minutes on medium heat. Pour over beans. Place bacon on top. Bake at 350°, uncovered, for 45 to 60 minutes. Yields 6 – 8 servings.

Chef’s Note: This amount of “sauce” is enough for even more green beans. So, I usually make WAY less of it and make a normal amount of green beans for 4 people.

This is my favorite way to do green beans. Put some chopped garlic (I like about half a dozen fresh cloves or a tablespoon chopped from a jar), some fresh ginger chopped fine, and some chopped scallions or even onions in a microwave-safe dish. Spoon over a tablespoon of vegetable or olive oil. Cover and microwave for 3 minutes, remove and stir in some soy sauce, a little rice vinegar, a very little dried red pepper and a teaspoon of sesame oil if you like it. Then stir in a pound of beans (fresh or frozen), cover again and microwave about 15 minutes for fresh, about 7 for frozen.

You can do the same thing in a skillet of course.

Aardvark & Huck -
they BOTH sound yummy!
I may have to experiment a little before deciding what recipe to use for our Christmas dinner.
Thanks!
