I have gained 5 pounds in the last 3-4 months, I need to get it back off. I have not been following my insulin resistance diet like I had been and it is showing.

Good morning, velma! Not much going on for me, either. (I kind of enjoy ruts, kwim?) A few packages to mail and hoping to deal with some paper clutter.

We're travelling to Oklahoma in a few weeks to see DD so slowly gathering stuff that we're taking with us.

Good morning kina and velma. I am trying to start packing for vacation. We leave after DS' 9m appt tomorrow. I need to call the place we're staying to check on laundry facilities - that will make a big difference on how much I bring clothes-wise!

Marie, laundromats are one of the first things I check out when we go on vacation if we're there more than a few days. DD has her own house and laundry facilities, but I'll still probably overpack!

I'm down about a pound from my last weigh-in. I wonder if we should start a new weight-loss challenge here?

EmmDee, have you tried MyFitnessPal? It's a free app (it is on my iPhone, at least) and it's also online. I am dixiedragon there if you want to friend me. I really really like it. You input your info - weight, height, etc and your weightloss goal and how much you want to lose per week. Right now I have my goal to loose 40 pounds and to lose 1.5 pounds a week. Then it tells you how many calories a day you can eat, and even divides them into carbs, fat, protein, etc. You input the foods you eat, which is pretty easy. And it even has a barcode scanner.

When you exercise, you earn calories. So my walk this morning earned me 64 extra calories. Which is helpful to me, because I usually think, "I took a walk this morning, so now I can drink this 20 oz Mountain Dew."

I have heard about it a lot but have never tried it, I may need to take the jump and do it though.

I see if you logged in food, but I don't think I can see what you had. Also I see if you are above or below your calorie budget and if you did some exercise. It also tells you if a person hasn't been logging it's food LOL.

Oh and a very cool thing is that once you finalized you food intake for the day it tells you that if you keep eating like this day you'll be X pounds in x weeks so it gives you visibility to how you are doing and when you'll see results.

It automatically posts your exercise, and when you complete a day and are under your goal, it posts that. It also posts when you lose weight. haven't seen a post where somebody gained weight. If somebody posts some sort of status, it shows that as well. It doesn't show specifically what you ate. Also, today it posted, "So-and-so hasn't logged in for 7 days. She may need some encouragement."

it will also give occassional updates like, "So-and-so has logged in for 100 days in a row"

I just signed up, but am staying very private. The last thing I want is being ratted out when I eat too much! But I do like the food counter.

Or, I think I do. Maybe not so much after dinner tonight!

I just ate pork roast on top of french fries and covered in cheese, probably not a good day to start tracking.

Totally. Eating healthy is SO MUCH easier if you can find somebody to do it with you, but if you can't, you can't let that hold you back.

Also, I 'hide' veggies in food a lot. For example, if I make something with ground beef, I double the seasonings and add a lot of shredded veggies like zucchini, brocolli slaw, cabbage, etc. Chop 'em up fine or use a food processor, and they "vanish" into the meat.
