So they keep reporting on a woman being arrested in Mexico, on her way back to the US, for drug smuggling. I can't figure out why this is news even if she is falsely accused. I bet dollars to donuts if I were to be arrested for drug smuggling it would not even be blip on the news circuit.
My guess is the family notified the media - the interview I saw said they thought it was a setup by authorities looking for a bribe. The family probably thought getting this in the media spotlight was the best way to make sure she was kept safe and any corrupt officials afraid to pull anything.

I am just surprised the media picked up on this, I cannot imagine this is the first American this has happened to.
