We work in an open office, think no cubicles, everyone can see everyone.
Every once in a while I hear *clip clip clip* and today it happened again... This dude is clipping his finger nails right at his desk. It's disgusting and gross.
I understand that life can be hectic when you have 2 little kids, but please, don't clip your nails in the office!!! I'm grateful that I'm at a good distance from him, otherwise I would be afraid of getting hit by a flying nail *shudders*
I agree that doing in view of others is gross. However, I have been known to take my clippers into the ladies room to clip an errant cuticle.
This is part of the new no-holds-barred openess in society where anything goes, especially things that were once meant to be done in private or done discreetly.
My pet peeve is people spitting openly in the street. Whatever happened to carrying tissues or a handkerchief if one must expectorate. Besides just looking disgustingly, it's just so unsanitary.
I also hate when people clip or file their nails in public areas like that. I've witnessed it from people who are not generally rude or gross, so I guess to some people there's nothing wrong with it. I hate when people do this on the subway
I don't clip my nails at work (unless I have a broken nail that is bothering me), because I know a significant portion of the population HATES it. However, it doesn't bother me. I don't consider clipping your fingernails to be on the same level as, say, flossing your teeth. That being said, I do think it is unprofessional to regularly clip your nails at work. And toenails at work is definitely gross and disgusting.
If he did his toenails at work I would puke, really.
For me it's the kind of thing you do at home, it's not something I want to witness.
Also I don't think that clipping a bothersome cuticle or a broken nail lands in the same bucket, those are things that you have to take care of at the moment.
