My stepfather has lost his battle with cancer.

It was a long nineteen months and he fought bravely, but today, he couldn't fight any longer.  My beloved stepfather has gone home.  And while I am comforted by the knowledge that he's no longer in pain, I'm still hurting like hell.  My mom, stepsiblings, and I were all able to be with him at the end.

You have my deepest sympathies, Aardvark. As I found with my Grandmother when she passed a few months ago, you will be glad that you could be there for him before he passed.

Thank you all.

Richard, it does help to know we were there. He died as he lived - surrounded by people. He loved people and they loved him. The world is a quieter, less joyful place without my funny, energetic, mischievous Bonus Dad.
