Sometimes I think those videos are mostly setups, but then my daughter-in-law will post a video of my grandson in tantrum mode on Facebook. Because standing back and recording a kid instead of calming him down is so much better.

Yeah... I can't figure that one out either. But even more of a head-scratcher is why do people think a kid breaking a TV in the course of a tantrum is funny (ETA: the people that VOTED for it to be the winner... not the weirdos that sent it in... we are already in agreement on that one)?

I totally agree. The runner up was some ladies being chased by deer. I did think that was funny.

I didn't watch it, but from your description I agree with your assessment. AFHV has such a tendency to reward anything involving kids, I think.
Many of those "funny video" shows are pretty questionable. Some of the videos are of stuff that is dangerous or annoying or mean. I especially hate the ones involving pranks.
I'm pretty sure I saw a person on fire on AFHV once.

I agree with you guys.

I watch AFHV from time to time and enjoy the program for the most part, but I understand why people thinking kids throwing temper tantrums, or otherwise throwing tantrums, is funny.

I did see one "tantrum" that was a kind of funny though. Apparently there was a kid who did the Macarena (remember the dance?). And apparently the mom made the kid do it for everyone. And, also apparently, the kid was sick of doing it. So the video involved the mom holding the camera and trying to talk the kid into doing the Macarena and the kid didn't want to. Finally the kid did it, complete with heavy sighs and eye-rolling, then turned to the mom with his little hand on his hip and yelled, "THERE! AND I'M NEVER EVER DOING IT AGAIN SO DON'T YOU EVER ASK ME TO DO IT AGAIN.!" And stamped his foot. It was kind of funny.

But it wasn't a kid just behaving badly.

What with idiots uploading their videos directly to youtube, broadcast shows like AFHV have to be even more outrageous to compete. Ahhh...remember the good ol' days, when if someone did something obnoxious, just a few people had to witness it. Now, all the world's a stage.

I don't get most of those videos. So many look super set up. So many are like it looks like someone really got hurt and so I don't know how funny that is. Like if a kid gets knocked over pretty hard I worry it is hurt and they won't show the kid getting back up okay so then I wonder if they were okay.

My Granddaddy was an odd fellow. Being on AFHV was his aspiration. He tried and tried to get on there. He did set up a video and finally made it on there for a brief second in a montage apparently. I never saw it. I wish I could see it. He has since passed away. He was so happy he got on there. It was one of his favorite shows.

I think sometimes kids being butts can be very funny if the kid is cute. Robot is lucky he is very cute because he does a lot of things that non cute kids could not get away with. He told a guy the other day when he bumped into him to "watch it!" but the guy just looked at him and smiled and laughed because he is just super cute. But it was rude and I had to correct him to say excuse me, not watch it. But the Dude thought it was cute. Then Robot was yelling really loud and drawn out you had to see it to really get it about wanting a snow cone. IIIIIII WANNNNNNNTTTTT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SNOOOOOOWWWWWW COOOOONNNEEE at the circus. It was bratty but also hilarious at the same time the way he did it. So I start busting out laughing and so did the other kids and my Dad and the people around us in the seats were dying laughing. Like I don't know how he pulls it off but he does. I just worry what is going to happen when his cuteness wears off. Let's hope maybe it never will. He has natural charisma especially for having autism.

Didn't see that, but for me it's enjoyable b/c I love it when parents actually get burned by their out-of-control kids. guarantee that little terror left a trail destruction in his wake, and how he destroyed Mommy and Daddy's prized TV.

Not a class - physical humor is enjoyed by all classes. Just like some people like Seinfeld-style humor, some like Three Stooges, and some seem to have no sense of humor whatsoever - it's a certain mindset.

I disagree that physical humor is enjoyed by all. Some people just like cerebral humor. Everyone is different.

What I always loved on AFHV (when I used to watch it... it's been a while) were the accident clips. Like a wedding couple dancing on a stage and then the stage collapses... and the people are like dominoes... or... a poorly made set of a play collapses around the actors... or... someone trying to get into a boat and the boat shifts and they end up in the water... THOSE are funny!

I agree with Richard, not everyone enjoys the physical humor, DH for example, he laughs with some of the videos, but he doesn't enjoy them the same way that I do. He hears me laughing and warns me about not peeing my pants.

I took her statement to mean that not everybody enjoys physical humor but that it's not class-based. I don't see what else makes sense given her post as a whole.
