Some of you know that AB has a few congential issues. The big one is cerebral palsy. Due to these conditions, he's developmentally delayed in many areas, including gross motor. He's still crawling, although he will cruise around if he has something to hang onto. His physical therapist and rehab specialist recommended getting a gait trainer for him to help his mobility.
The equipment company called today - UPMC has approved our request! AB will have it in a few weeks and he might even be walking by his birthday!
If you have questions, don't be shy about asking.

That is awesome. I home schooled a girl with cerebral palsy when she was 12 for a year. This was 8+ years ago. I am sure things have come a long way in how to treat from early ages in two decades. Can you say more about what a gait trainer is.
It's a four-sided walker that you strap your child into. There's different accessories you can put on depending on what their needs are, but it helps increase their balance, strength, and stamina, among other things. For now, AB's only going to have the basics attached, like the chest harness to keep him upright.

Victoria, the girl I worked with, still had some balance issues they the time I met her, we did a lot of her lessons with her sitting on an exercise ball. I have her mom on my facebook but not her so I went to look her up on facebook. Looks like she is going to Texas A&M. Man, that makes me so proud of her. I was working with her on simple math - addition/subtraction and basic reading/writing.
