Apparently on CS and Cousin's last trip to the grocery store, CS couldn't find anything he wanted so Cousin was forced to pick what they got. And now he won't eat it b/c he didn't choose it.
at my house he would then eat what was there or not...
years ago I had a stepson who was 9 and ruled the roost at his house and EVERYTHING I made EVERYTHING he *hated* I fried chicken he wanted ONLY MCD's mcnuggets. me scrambling eggs and offering them to him, he told his dad I was KILLING him with eggs luckily his dad and older brother who was with us both saw through him and his tricks.....
No matter what I made he wanted some sort of fast food. he did like PBJ and milk, so he and I made an agreement, that was all he had to eat...and he did not have to eat anything I made or the rest of the family ate...but that meant ANYTHING...at all
so one night we were all outside doing yard work and I said I was making meatloaf anf he flopped around and made gagging sounds, and said he hated that...then I reminded him well he did not *have* to eat it, he got PBJ and milk, que happy smiling smug face.
then as the evening got later and time got away from us, we decided to just grab a pizza, boy did he get excited, picking what KIND he would eat...until I reminded him of our deal, he only "had" to eat PBJ...but NO he cried, HE wanted PIZZA....threw a fit...and yet only got PBJ. cause he had agreed he did not want to eat anything we ate.
this went on about 4.5 days and then he begrudingly decided he would eat what we did with NO complaints. and he did. WHAT could have been a major battle was not one I chose to *fight* and so I did not let a 9yoa child jerk me around, and by the time he left he hugged me and told me he loved my cooking LOL and could not wait to come back.
His brother told us that he tried to be his usual self with his mom and he told her what we did do, she tried it and while it took longer for her, he did finally start eating what they did with little complaints. I have found for me, consistantcy with kids works wonders. and not fighting every battle, just picking them and also not letting a child take the whole house and family *hostage* with their behaviours

SMH. See if it was truly some kind of medical side effect issue with his meds I would have some sympathy. But that means you don't eat anything. If you really are sick from eating then even eating cookies and chips will bother you. But if you can eat cookies and chips you can eat a sandwich too.
Sure, maybe like when I was morning sickness certain foods would just be a no because the mere smell of them caused me to be sick, but if I felt like eating at all, I could eat something healthy just as I could eat something junk food. When I had super super bad morning sickness I could not eat anything. Even my favorite foods and desserts. If he can eat cookies, he can eat a sandwich.
I'm curious, if CS is invited to others' homes when his mother isn't present (like a birthday party? invitation to dinner at a classmate's house) does he have a problem eating? Of course, from his description on this board, I gather he doesn't get too many invitations to non-family homes. I'd like to see how he eats when his mother isn't around.
Well, as far as I can tell, he's never invited anywhere by non-family. As far as I can see, it's been well over a year since he was invited to a bday party. He's never been invited to very many. Basically, he's at school or he's with his parents or a family member. I don't think he has a social group outside of that.
In the past, he'd eat better when his mom wasn't around. But we're all so sick of him that we don't deal with him when his mom's not around any more.
So, now CS is no longer eating his chips - only his cookies. Of course, I'm not sure that chips + cookies is nutritionally better than just cookies. He told his mom, "I promise I'll eat my chips today!" Not sure what happens to the apple.
Now she feeds her fruit turnovers for breakfast. He peels off the top layers of pastry, then fusses when she tries to get him to eat that.
