So there are some people that are against abortion because it is a sin. Yet these people who judge those who have abortions often have sex out side of marriage at least as many times as a woman has an abortion. So these people also say that no sin is greater than another so I need someone to help me make sense of this because it does not follow logic. If you aren't married and you are dating and have sex with your SO I bet you have sinned more in two weeks than the woman who has had four abortions. Why are these sinners (those having sex outside of marriage) often the ones protesting outside of an abortion clinic and doing it for religious reasons?

That's an easy one... because they (the ones having an abortion) are the "Real" sinners. The Bible didn't really mean it when it said sex outside of marriage a sin... didn't you know that?
*The preceding was complete and utter sarcasm

The people I know who are against abortion consider it taking a life. The rest of your post is such an outlandish 'lump all of them together' pile of crap I'm not going to bother. It's obvious you have no interest in a real discussion.

I think they use that same argument about homosexuality.
It doesn't follow logic. My high school BFF was Catholic. She said she would NEVER have an abortion but she had no problem having tons of premarital sex with tons of guys and being on birth control pills which are also not okay with the Catholic church.
I mean that is life. People are hypocrites. People pick and choose which rules they wanna apply due to their own selfish wants and needs. Its not cool, but I mean I am surprised you seem so shocked by this. It is not just Christians that do it. I have caught liberals, homosexuals and atheists being super hypocritical too about certain things.
Oh I am not surprised since I see it quite often, I just think it is illogical and they don't seem to see it. Kind of like when I meet black homophobes.
Yeah I know what you mean. I tried explaining the thing to my friend and she still did not see how it did not make sense. Like if you don't want an abortion I respect that but don't make it about your religion because you are already violating your religion hardcore.

You are correct. They do.
It's called "Cafeteria Christianity". "Cafeteria Christians" believe that things they approve of (like: sex before marriage, if THEY are having it)... well... they aren't REALLY sins, but things that they DON'T approve of definitely are sins. Kind of a "take what I want, and ignore/leave the rest" approach to it.

BA I am not talking about all Christians of course because most people I know are Christians, it is just the rabid hypocritical ones that I am speaking of.
I guess when you do it it's a mistake and Jesus forgives you, but if somebody else does it it's a sin and you're going to hell?
I knew a Catholic girl in school who was adamant that birth control was a sin - but she was on BC for her painful periods and that was okay. Nevermind that the BC stopped her from get pregnant from pre-marital sex with her boyfriend.
Plus, having a baby is a punishment for sex. If you don't want a baby, you shouldn't have sex. Of course, anti-choicers don't think about what it's like to be raised by a woman who didn't want you.

But your deity specifically says no sin is greater than another.
Not every Christian really believes all sins are equal. But I think the question, whether they do believe this or not, is why there seems to be such a disproportionate fixation on some particular so-called sins like abortion and homosexuality.
If people think abortion is murder than it makes some sense that they would focus on it.
I agree with Cactus. The number of Christians who think that all sins are equal - from jaywalking to genocide - is probably rather small. For most, if they think abortion is equivalent to murder, that trumps fornication.

I'm curious to what you have seen atheists being hypocritical about since they follow no religious tenets.

Well one atheist I knew was the meanest most judgmental most close minded person I ever met. Typically being an atheist considers themselves open minded but not this dude. I also know some atheists that when say their kid gets hit by a car and is not in a coma, all of a sudden realize they need God and start praying for God to save their kid. So basically when things are good, they can say their is no god but when they need help that tune changes super fast.

I don't really see how the first example is hypocritical unless he personally claimed values he didn't demonstrate. He's not a hypocrite based on what you think a "typical" atheist claims to be.
okay but the second point stands and I know multiple people that have been in that situation and then all of a sudden are begging God to save their kid/mother/father/wife etc. So in that case it comes off real hypocritical.

I can see that it's hypocritical, but it's a hypocracy that doesn't hurt anybody, so I don't think it really matters. I live in the Bible Belt, so in my experience it's Christians who are trying to shove their beliefs down other people's throats, and non-Christians tend to not be very vocal about their beliefs b/c they don't want to be hassled. I don't think that's a fault of religion in general or of Christianity in particular, I think it's a fault of human nature. In the dark parts of us, we all want to make people "better" - meaning "more like us". When you are part of the majority, then it's easier to get away with pushing your beliefs on other people. In my area, a Christian pushing their beliefs is going to get a lot of tacit support, and not a lot of push back. But a non-Christian is going to get a lot of push back. If I went to a community that was 80% atheist, then probably the person pushing their beliefs on me will be an aethist.
Sadly, it's human nature to be @ssholes to each other.
The super loud mouth atheist I know lives in the South. He was the type of guy that will talk at you even if nobody wants to hear and does not care. We were not arguing with him or being exclusive or trying to convert him. He is just that type of guy. Most atheists I know are pretty chill and a lot of them keep it on the down low, but this guy was probably just one for attention because he went around any chance he could get trying to argue with someone or start a fight or trying to browbeat someone down about their beliefs when most people were 100% accepting of him. I never care what religion someone is. Just that they are not an *******.

Then he is obviously not an atheist. Perhaps he was an agnostic and trying to cover his bases?
Many people look at abortion as "pre-meditated" sin whereas sex "just happens". That's also the reasoning they use for not using birth control; they would be planning to sin and not just having the sin happen. They feel they can be forgiven for their "accidental" sin.
So how exactly does accidental sex happen? Does somebody slip and private parts collide with no clothing????
LOL...
"I'm ever so sorry... I was just walking in your bedroom, naked, with an erection... to... ummm... talk about last night's episode of Vampire Diaries. When, all of a sudden, I tripped over a lose piece of yarn in the carpet and accidentally fell just exactly right so that my erection lined up with your connection... and I kept slipping on the slick sheets every time I tried to stand up."
"You really should do something about that dangerous trippy carpet, and those slippery sheets... so this doesn't happen again!"
