I loath Friday's, I let me damned kids talk me into going tonight and I bought a 9oz glass of wine for $9. DH was in a hurry to take TB book shopping and I had to buy DD a shirt. So because I was being so cheap and I refused to chug the wine I put it in my son's plastic cub with a lid that his apple juice was served in. I know I am a cheap a$$
Not necessarily cheap but I think it is illegal in Texas. Restaurants with patios all have signs posted that say no alcohol beyond this point. I am not sure who would get in trouble though, the patron or the restaurant.
Well, I am so cheap (although I prefer terms like money-wise, thrifty, parsimonious or frugal) I probably would have had water to drink and had a glass of wine when I got home.
I also dislike shopping and as a result I am down to one pair of jeans I am not thoroughly embarrassed to wear and even those I would not call good, just acceptable.
Trying to think of some cheap things I do.........
I sneak food and drinks into the movie theater. One reason because they don't have to sell some of the stuff we want anyways. We do buy popcorn because I get one of those giant tubs for like $20 and you pay $3 to refill it every time you come. I sneak in most of our drinks and some candy though. I refuse to pay $4 for a bottle of water. I just put water in a kids cup and bring it in with us. And there is candy in my purse at any given time so not much difference there either. I lug around starburst for Hip Hop at all times since I always want to have an allergy safe treat for him on hand just in case. You never know when some Mom will whip out unsafe treats somewhere and I don't want him to feel left out. I always carry Jolly ranchers around with me half the time too.
I reuse Walmart bags as free trash can liners. But hey its recycling too!
We do a lot of picnic lunches if we are going to be out during a meal time instead of eating out to save money. Love my 31 thermal bags for that.
We usually take home leftovers when eating out if there is some to be taken home that we probably will eat later.
The Dollar Tree is one of my favorite places to shop LOL. I get super excited anytime I go in there. I love all the cool stuff I find in there for $1!!!!
We are too cheap to pay for cable but I use my Dad's HBO Go and Xfinity password and log in he gave me to still be able to watch a lot of that stuff online. He only uses the actual tv and never bothers with the online stuff.
When I take the kids out I make them pay for most of the stuff they want to do or buy with their own money. They earn it or people give it to them and then I tell them they have to use their money because I am not paying for it. Which because I give them money technically I am still paying for it, but at least it makes them realize they can't just buy whatever they want without the bank going dry.
We always ask for free lollipops at the bank LOL
I refuse to buy a smart phone or an expensive cell phone and data plan. We have a crappy phone that costs $10 a month added on to my mom's family plan.
Most of the kids clothing comes from Walmart. I figure for play clothes that are just going to get rolled around in the dirt, it might as well only cost $5 for a shirt or less.
I buy up discount and clearance toys when I see them and put them away in a storage area for birthday party presents. They are nice toys but I get them super cheap and stock them up.
