rainy day activities for kids?

Okay doing the starting a new topic challenge

Anyone got any good rainy day activitites for kids?

We had rain yesterday and today. So I decided after lunch I am taking the kids to go bowling. I got a free coupon so all I have to pay for is shoes and the arcade if we do that which we probably will. I will probably just let them bowl and I don't really need to pay to do it. They use the bumpers and the little ramp thingy.

Any other rainy day ideas?

play doh-mine are almost too old for this now though

Crafts

I sometimes just put them in baths and let them play in there. Kills time.

Letting them help me bake something or cook

Go to an indoor play place

Wander around a store like Target, Walmart or the mall

What else????

Movie time

I almost though about taking them to the cheap theater to see Peabody and Sherman or whatever that one is but then I remembered I had those bowling coupons

reading which we already did

Any other good ideas?

Board games. I personally have a rule that I will play each game twice in a row, but no more. Seriously, I do NOT want to put that Mousetrap thing together for the 3rd time.

I don't recall if you have pets, but you could bake dog treats.

No pets but cool idea.

We are already back from bowling. Did not last as long as I would have hoped. But it was fun.

There are lots of crafts that they could make. Paint and/or make birdhouses, make bird feeders, make things out of clay (like a pencil holder, or candy dish), making collages.

Indoor picnics

Get a book on fun little science projects that you can do easily at home, usually with things you have laying around.

Make a "tornado machine" with two soda bottles put together with water inside.

Make and paint ornaments for Christmas for relatives (even though it's still early, you'll get a bunch done!)

Finger paint in shaving cream (we use it on cookie sheets to contain the mess)

Origami

Dance parties, including freeze dance

Making up plays for you (this keeps them out of your hair!)

I didn't know there was such a thing as too old for Play-Do.

Card games, drawing and coloring, making pizza, cookies (or just the dough, so you have cookie dough for later baking).

Or just watching a movie with popcorn or ice cream.

I love the making pizza. That is always fun and their fav food so even better.

oh indoor picnics, that is a good one!

The sun actually came out about 3 or so after we got back from bowling so they got to go outside and the neighbor kids came out and they all had a grand old time.
