Last night I took the kids to a special event the local zoo puts on for special needs kids and their families. It is a very nice event. They get pizza and set up games and bouncy castles and slides and give out balloons and gift bags etc. So we attended and was looking forward to a fun free event.
The problem came when it came to the bouncy castle. All the kids got in it at the same time and there were about 2 other kids in there. I saw a boy about 10 or so and he kinda fell down on the side of the castle by the net. I was standing over there near him and then I notice liquid on the net and so I asked him "Did you have an accident?" He said "Yes but I am wearing a swimsuit so its okay." !!!! I was like "No, its not okay everyone out of the bouncy castle now!" I told the attendant and got my kids the heck out of there. Piss was going everywhere!!! I could see quite a bit of it.
My kids seemed dry when I looked them over but I was grossed out. Now I understand accidents happen. Especially at a special needs kids event. However if your kid is not good at being potty trained put the in a pull up for stuff like this! But even then, I would have been sympathetic except the Dad was just standing there like eh. All nonchalant. He did not apologize, look embarrassed, look upset, nothing. Then him and the kid just ambled off. I don't think they even went to clean up! I was just in shock!!
If my kid did something like that I would be mortified. I would be apologizing to everyone and look super embarrased. SMH. They had to close it down for awhile to clean it but we came back an hour later and they were letting kids jump in it again. I thought no way it was still clean enough probably and we did not get back in there.
I posted this over at the Escape too but was going to post it here for the peeps not on that board.
Sounds like a nice event for the children. It's a shame that your good time was spoiled, but you can take heart in the fact that human urine is relatively non-toxic. Kind of gross, but it shouldn't hurt the kids. The McDonald's here had a playroom with a ball pit. There was a sign that said, "If your child vomits in the balls, please notify attendant." That made MY stomach churn.
