Same-sex couples in the U.S. would be eligible for leave to care for their spouses under a rule the Obama administration will propose today.

Gay and lesbian couples in all states, including those in which they are not allowed to marry, would be eligible to take time under the Family and Medical Leave Act to care for a spouse, the White House said in an e-mailed statement.

The U.S. Supreme Court a year ago struck down a law that denied federal benefits to legally married gay couples. Since that June 2013 ruling, it’s been unclear whether unpaid family leave requirements apply to same-sex couples, prompting President Barack Obama to direct the Labor Department to issue the rule ensuring they receive the benefit.

Missouri does not recognize same sex marriage except for income tax filing status, so we are in for a hot debate if this legislation goes through.

While I agree with the idea... I'm not sure if Emperor Obama has the authority to make that change. It's basically re-writing legislation... something I believe is reserved to Congress.

He's doing the right thing... but in the wrong way.

The comment was perfectly in line with the topic at hand... To whom should I have credited the action? Bush (son)? Clinton? Bush (dad)? Reagan? Carter? Ford? Nixon?

But... suggesting that a thread about something Obama did is the wrong place to post a rebuttal about the topic at hand and include His name in it... well... that's not exactly overflowing with intelligence.

Don't like that I attributed something to Emperor Obama that Emperor Obama did... then suggest to whom it should be attributed to.

Again, I ask... to whom should I have attributed it... Bush (son)? Clinton? Bush (dad)? Reagan? Carter? Ford? Nixon?
