Crazy weather this winter
Permalink

it has been very odd for us this year...very not the norm.

not a lot of snow or cold, so I am worried that it will be snowing in June   it has done that in fact some places have gotten snow in July.

I WANT snow now.....not later...because we do need the moisture!

We may get up to 8" of snow this week, over 3 days. Last year we were getting that much in a day. I've only had to shovel once this year - very unusual. It's sunny and in the low 40s today - very annoying. Ground is soft and muddy, bugs are not dying off. Flea and mosquito population will be horrendous this summer - thank goodness I don't have any pets to worry about.

that's like ours, super cold and snow a day or so and then upper 40's and sun.

we really need moisture. last week I woke up to pouring rain and thunder!!!! in February in Wyoming. then it was nice by the end of the day and snowing by the end of the next day!

Only about 6 inches of snow where I'm at - a lot more to the east and west. Lake effect bands split and we got the clear part. I'm headed out to shovel again right now - and it's a whole 9 degrees out. City finally plowed my street, so I get to clear the nice stack at the end of my driveway before it turns into icy chunks.

I'm sure my neighbor is happy, though. He has a landscaping/plowing business and this is the first time this winter he's had jobs two days in a row.

Saturday it was 60 degrees at noon, ran into town and grabbed some groceries when I came out maybe 45 minutes later it had dropped 20 degrees and the dark rumbling clouds and killer wind hit! it was so dang cold trying to get to my car. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get home, and shortly thereafter the SNOW hit! it snowed hard for about 2-3 hours and we got over 1/3 an inch and then the sun came OUT! Sunday more of the same. Today it is JUST cold gray, drizzling rain and yucky! supposed to possibly turn to snow!

Drove home this morning in about 3 inches of something the rough equivalent of a fresh cold Slurpee.

I don't know what I'm going to find on my way to work this morning. There may be ice, there may be nothing. The city and county are so inconsistent about how they plow and treat the streets that I never know whether the route north or south of the river is going to be the best - each route has one curvy section that can be an ice rink. I know how to drive on ice, but there's plenty of crazies out there that don't, and I don't need them sliding into me.

sunny and around 60 yesterday. Took grandson to the playground and zoo - and my knees are paying for it today.

Back in the 30s this week.

I'm ready for this temperature roller-coaster to level out.

I have to admit I feel a bit sorry for the TV meteorologists today - one computer model shows us getting 2.5 inches of snow, the other one predicts 12 inches. Should be an interesting two days.

LOL... same here. Three different stations have three different forecasts for where I live, so tonight I expect either rain, rain/snow mix, or snow!

Jamaica? Hope you had a great time!

The 6" of snow I got melted pretty quickly. Didn't even have to shovel. 20 miles west got twice as much snow. 60s over the weekend, 40s today, rain turning into snow tomorrow. No tropical vacation for me though. My vacation is a day at a time right now - usually involving my mom's eye doctor appointments. Going to do something fun over the summer, though. Probably going to Iowa to the last Frank Lloyd Wright hotel still in operation (Mom loves Wright architecture). And one or two weekend trips to baseball games for me - probably Dayton and either Wisconsin or near Chicago.

I loved seeing your Jamaica pics on FB, Riding. I've always wanted to go there. PM's been, but it was a mission trip. If I'm going, it's to sit on the beach with a pina colada in one hand and a book in the other. I'll do a mission trip elsewhere!

We're having roller-coaster temps here, too. The joke about Pennsylvania having four seasons, sometimes all in the same day, is funny because it's true.
