Froot, I really think you should ask about antianxiety meds. This seems like too much for a person to have to deal with. And I jumped when I read about the compressor
Kali, that is a bit of a weird situation but glad everyone gets along.
Got my yearly review today and found out I got a raise on top of the huge jump in salary after getting my new position about 2 months ago. I am now making more than my husband and I made together last year (he was out of work for 6 months). All that hard work is finally paying off. Yay!

If you are a potential customer on the phone and ask me A LOT of questions, it is common courtesy to at least, you know, end the conversation as opposed to just letting me answer and then hanging up. You don't just say "ok" and hang up. That is rude. Heck, some people will even say "thanks for the information" and then I get to say "not a problem, call back if you have any other questions and have a great day".
and crap, I have another vent. A customer just came in to get material and he is tax exempt. He needed to fill out the form which he filled out incorrectly and incomplete. He actually said, will I figure no one will look at it. I said, yes, they will if I get an audit. He said, well they would have to look it over to find the info even if it is in the wrong spot, you don't have to read it. I told him I need records to be filled out correctly. I am accepting liability that you are truly tax exempt. Dip****.
I am such an idiot!! I was just emailing with a vendor saying "I'd like to get this load Wed morning." They sent me an email back saying "Do you mean Thurs morning?" And I answered "No. I need it Wednesday. (But I'd really like it tomorrow.) But I don't want to wait until Thursday." She sent an email back. "Tomorrow is Wednesday."
D'oh!!!! Somewhere there is a vendor on a message board telling this same story about her dumbass client who doesn't know what day of the week it is.
Don't feel bad safety, I do it all the time. Because of my work I'm always working on things for different months. Sometimes knowing what month it actually is, is harder than what day...lol

Working 7 days right now I have no idea what day it ever is.
I got to work early this morning after driving in from FWB's house. I was tired and I have just recently moved a really comfy couch into my back office building. I went there to take a nap before opening. Well, I turned off my alarm instead of using snooze and my employee had to come find me because I had left the back door to the main office unlocked and my purse was on the counter, car outside and he had no idea where I was. He was all freaked that I had been robbed/kidnapped. Checked the cash drawer, it was all there and he was super concerned about me.
Kapper, bc it is a new busines that just went through a record drought summer that we haven't gotten out of. I will probably close up for a couple of weeks in winter if I can build up some savings for overhead. Luckily I do truly love what I do when customers are not being stupid or annoying. It doesn't always feel like work.
I can tell you like it when you talk about your good customers. I worked in retail for many years. It's not the same as the dedication you have to have but the hours and sometimes the customers sucked but there were way more nice customers on the whole.

My mother is on a cruise. They had some sort of raffle on the ship and she won a sapphire (just the gem). She had it appraised on one of the islands they visited. The jeweler told her "this just paid for your cruise". I WANT HER LUCK! She wins All. The. Time.

Please tell me she is adding it to her insurance from the cruise. That is too cool. I have some gems I want to get appraised, I have bought them from various places and want to know if they are genuine but everywhere I have seen wants around $75 a gem to do it. That just isn't worth it to me right now.

She is. I told her she should have sold it to the jeweler who appraised it, but she wanted to bring it home.
Then I asked if she was going to have it set into a ring. She said "it's too big for a ring." Oh, well....lah dee dah. LOL!
She's thinking a necklace but will shop around for a setting she can afford.
I miss my kitty. She is at my mom's house until I am moved and out of transition mode. I feel like I should go to mom's house to visit her except that is 1.5 hours away.
Why do people believe celebrities over their oncologist/radiologist who have been practicing for over 30 years and keeps up on the latest treatment options? And these are educated people.
Kali, I can see how that would be frustrating. I understand being your own advocate if you feel the doctor is not listening or whatever but why not trust the people who do it for a living.
We finally got enough strawberries to actually make something. It's a holiday in Missouri, so I made a fresh strawberry pie. My condolences to those of you who are at work and not celebrating Harry S Truman's birthday.
I haven't tasted it yet Alice, but here it is. From Farm Journal's Complete Pie Cookbook:
Strawberry Glace Pie
Baked 9 inch pie shell 1 1/2 quarts strawberries 1 cup sugar 3 tblsp. cornstarch 1/2 cup water 1 tblsp. butter
Clean, hull and dry berries. Crush enough with a potato masher to make 1 cup. Combine sugar and cornstarch. Add crushed berries and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking and stirring over low heat 2 minutes. The mixture will be thickened and translucent. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Cool.
Place whole berries in pie shell. Pour cooked mixture over berries and chill for at least two hours.
I cut the sugar down to about 2/3 cup and used a pie crust from the store. I also melted a dark chocolate candy bar and brushed it over the bottom of the pie shell to prevent it from becoming soggy in case we don't eat it all today. It probably won't last long, though because my inlaws will be coming over in a little while to feed their horses and sheep that they keep in our barn.
