People do things to try and get around policies that are clearly posted.
WTF? Are they really that special that the rules don't apply to them?
What's even worse is when they try to skirt the rules BADLY and you know that are breaking the rules and THEY know you know.
We have a very clearly posted sign on our ice machine at the Motel. It says: "Please, no filling of personal coolers, our other guests might like some ice too!"
So this morning a group of guys come in and bring their (looks like) 30 gallon personal cooler in to fill it up. I tell them I'll let them have four "ice bucket" fulls of ice for their cooler because they have four rooms between them. They take 5 bucket fulls before stopping... and then... after they take their cooler out, they come back in, one at a time, and bring a plastic grocery bag (the same one, different person) several times to try and fool me that they aren't putting it in their cooler.
Idiots.

It all boils down to a sense of entitlement. You mean they don't get to take $15-20 worth of ice (no idea real price) as part of their room charge? You mean they should go BUY their own ice. No way!?!
