If anyone is interested, leave your prayer requests here.  You can give as little or as much information as you want.  I just ask that this thread not be used to debate the merits of prayer or religion.  (You can certainly start threads about it, though).

Mine is: my stepfather, who was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of mesothelioma.  Right now, we don't know much else until he has surgery early next week.

Mine is my niece. She had a breakdown and has been diagnosed with psychosis nos. She has two young children that she can no longer care for on her own. I know she is luckier than some because she has a large loving family but my heart aches for the kids. Being only 4 and 2 they don't understand what has happened. Any good thoughts would be appreciated.

Prayers for your aardvark's uncle, may the surgery be as successful as possible and the prognosis be positive.

Prayers for all of kapper's family. This will take a family to get through and may differences be set aside for the common good. Prayers for an easy transition for DN's children so they can grow to be wonderful children.

Stepdad starts chemo next Friday, but other than that, my mom hasn't really said much. Stepdad's in very good spirits, though! Thank you for asking.

I just heard today that my cousin Earl has entered Hospice. He has leukemia that went into remission for a good long while, but now it's back. We were close as kids, but we're all in our 50s-60s now and spread around, so I haven't seen him in years. He's a good guy and I feel so sorry for his family. Any and all prayers and good thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

Thank you, kapper. When I read about your niece I sent a quick prayer that she can be helped and for you and your family to be able to find your way through her treatment and hopefully, if not an actual cure, to a management that allows for as normal a life as possible.

My mother had a MI; she was paranoid and delusional at least all of my life. I was born when she was 23yo. I'm not sure when in her lifetime it started, as nobody in her family will talk about it, let alone actually admit she was mentally ill. She died in 2007 at 74yo. She managed, though not without difficulty, and (honestly) not without her condition having affected our lives. But I loved her dearly and miss her every day.

I don't always respond to these types of threads; some of them just hit too close to home for me. But if I do read them I always send up a prayer; and often times do that anyway, just from the information provided in the title.

I am so sorry for Earl's condition and Stepdad.

My uncle Paul has been battling throat cancer for awhile and the treatment they tried (last resort) is not working. They give him 8-10 months. I pray for longer.

Well, there's "good" news about my stepdad. His PET scan came back, showing cancer only in the lungs. He also had his first chemo treatment on Friday, and aside from being a little tired, didn't have any side effects and is feeling great. The docs say the cancer is manageable, so while it's not going to be cured, they're not saying "Get your affairs in order" either.

In bad news, though, my dear friend's mother appears to be losing her battle with uterine cancer. She was supposed to be part of a clinical drug trial in Philadelphia, but has taken a turn for the worse.
