Yesterday was our Baronial Birthday/Investiture -- I had mentioned on another thread that I was busily pulling together severl things, with documentation, for the A&S display, at the request of the Baronial Artisan Champion. (I'll post those pictures, as soon as I can get the cotton-pickin' thing to cooperate!! But they're on my FB page.....)
Anyway, this all got quite a bit of positive response and a couple of people going, 'oooh, you teach needlework?' Sure do, come on to my next class or drop by informally and I'll be glad to help.
So, at evening court, much to my surprise, I was called in. And got this award of merit:
The Order of the Coral Branch: Honors and recognizes those subjects of the Kingdom who have distinguished themselves in their effort in arts and sciences of the period.
I know I am being picky but I think I will need to friend you on facebook because the photos are too small to do them justice. Congrats on the award, it is well deserved.
Piece on the left is an embroidered, beaded prayerbook cover with gold work and beading. I made it as a gift for Mom.
The piece on the right is a work-in-progress. It will be a sleeve for a chemise. Changeable silk with silk embroidery. The drawing next to it is the pattern I did for the design.
Left -- white pearls with red Czech glass beads (instead of rubies!) with a silver pendant with red stones (glass). Necklace, bracelet and earrings.
Center -- black pearls with green garnets and silver Celtic cross pendant. Inspired by a novel and non-fic bio of Mary,Queen of Scots and her famous black pearls.
Right -- Black pearls with green river shell and green quartz pendant.
Embroidered girdlebook cover. Traditional dogrose design on linen. It has a small blank notebook inside. The long 'tail' can be tucked into a belt to keep the book conveniently at hand.
