Dangers of roller skating

Well I didn't roller skate at the party last night but DBF tried - and managed to fall and sprain his wrist! The doctor wasn't absolutely sure it wasn't fractured, he will let us know after the radiologist reviews the films. Anyway, DBF has a nice wrist brace and is in considerable pain.

I guess Friday the 13th got him pretty good

I hope it is just a strain. Do nt let him use that as an excuse to get out of doing housework.

Ouch, sometimes a sprain can be worse than a fracture imo. Hope he heals quickly. I've only been rollerskating a handful times in my life. I'm too much of a clutz.

Update: The doctor called back and said DBF chipped a bone (alvulsion fracture?) on the top of his hand. He is being referred to an orthopedist to decide what to do. I hope he doesn't need surgery.

No wonder he is in so much pain. I hope he can get in quickly to the orthopedist and you get good news that it will heal without surgery.

He says it feels a lot better than Saturday. He was trying to use his hand as much as possible today - I put a stop to that. He got his Ritter Sport bar broken up into bite size pieces tonight and gets out of doing the dishes.

Right now he has a soft wrist wrap and he should have an appointment with an orthopedist soon. He says it itches but does not hurt too much. Of course he has a major back injury that hurts a lot worse.

Saw the orthopedist on Friday and DBF is now sporting a blue cast for three weeks. So no surgery and the doctor thinks it will heal just fine. The cast is making his back hurt worse so that is the bad news. I am happy that he doesn't need surgery.

He already has a bad back. It is amazing what makes his back pain worse. I imagine that the weight of cast is pulling on his back more.

I wonder why the cast is making his back hurt. I'm glad he will not need surgery, that is good news. I would definitely let the doc know that there is back pain though.
