I'm LMAO picturing the lightning fast egg-gobbling and the dog riot! My guy was an only 'child' so didn't have any competition. He did do a little sorta-happy-dance though while trying to bite off chunks.

When I asked if anyone had ideas for dinner, DH said frozen salsburry steak.  That's right, he went to the store alone again.    The worst part is I used the recipe idea on the box for what the good people at Banquet call "Easy Stroganoff".  It involved cutting the  meat into bite sized pieces and mixing sour cream with the gravy then stirring it all into egg noodles.

Please share some of your really bad dinner ideas and make me feel better!

I made a meal once called Spanish Chicken Skillet.

I have no idea what I did wrong but my family said it was the worst meal I ever made. My butthead third daughter said it tasted like dirt. And my kindest child who is always cognizent of other's feelings said "she's being NICE Mom. It tasted way worse than dirt."

My husband suggested that I throw that recipe out. I still have it and I threaten them with it when I start feeling unappreciated. It's amazing how nice they are to me so that I WON'T ever cook that again.

LOL

ES, I've mixed the cut-up salisbury steak with egg noodles before, but without adding the sour cream. It was ok. But it's just me, and I hate cooking, so there weren't any complaints. ;)

One of the worst meals I've made was a canned ham. I love ham but had never made the canned kind before. I don't know why I did that time, but I never will again. bleh   I managed to eat maybe 2 bites before giving up and getting out the cereal. My dog loved it though!

Canned ham is not nearly as good as the other ones. It's ok to fry for breakfast with eggs if you don't have any sausage or ham steaks, but that is about it.  My dogs love cooking mistakes too.  Last week I made green beans from our garden, but didn't know we grew the kind with strings.  I almost gave them to the dogs til I remembered they were full of onions and threw them in the trash.

ES,
Guilt free cooking mistakes = Composting

I think of it as recycling. If I throw my peas in the compost but use that compost next year to grow more peas then I'm guilt free

I overcooked it too, so that didn't help.  You should have seen my dog's eyes when I plunked the ENTIRE ham down in his bowl.  He didn't know what to do!  I of course didn't let him eat the whole thing, but I wanted to see how he would react.  It was priceless!  He just stared at it in astonishment (imagine HUGE eyes!) for a minute or two before trying to figure out how to bite into it since I didn't cut it up. I let him bite off a few chunks before I took it away.

Oh, yes I would have done that, but they were also full of bacon. I even throw dryer lint in the compost container I keep on my kitchen counter.

Once I dropped an egg on the floor and before I could reach for a paper towel, one of the dogs had eaten it shell and all. If I threw a whole ham in their bowl a riot would probably break out.

I can be lazy when it comes to dinner, since for us is not the biggest meal of the day we just eat something at night so we don't wake up starving.

Sometimes we get canned refried beans, put them in a tupper and heat them in the microwave, then we scoop the beans with tortilla chips right out of the tupper. The worst one we have had is the one that had jalapeño flavoring bleh when I opened the canned I knew I wouldn't like them.

I tried a little bit just to be sure, they were nasty! DH said they were ok and proceded to eat his share disbelief the rest of the beans sit on the fridge right now waiting for DH's next night raid of the kitchen.

I have definitely had some bad results but I don't know if they were the idea or my execution. I know Froot cringes when I eat Chef Boyardee Spaghetti. Some times I just crave that.

Chef Boyardee is not bad for lunch.  It's cheap and you can keep it in your desk at work.

As long as you take it out of the can and heat it before you eat it.  Eating it cold from the can IS cringworthy.
