Just wait -- all of the 'Obama's gonna take our guns!!' people are already starting the speculation that these are all part of an Evil Plan by the Gun-Hatin' Liberals. The shootings are being staged to whip up the demand to ban guns.

The shooting makes me sad.

And I thought that only in Mexico we had people that thinks that everything is a plot from the government or a smoke screen to cover something else. * sigh *

Crazy!!! Almost makes me afraid to be in a crowd but there are plenty of people killed in their own homes so I can't let it stop me from doing what I need to do...

Two people were killed and nine injured in a shooting incident Friday morning outside the Empire State Building by a disgruntled ex-employee of a nearby business, officials said.

The suspected gunman, Jeffrey Johnson, 53, who was laid off a year ago, approached a former co-worker on the street and shot him three times, killing him, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

A construction worker who witnessed the incident followed Johnson as he walked away, Kelly said. The construction worker alerted police, who confronted Johnson. He turned his .45-caliber pistol on the officers, and was killed as they opened fire, Kelly said.

Some of those injured in the incident may have been hit by police bullets, he said, adding that the nine injured are expected to survive.

Kelly said Johnson was a designer of women's accessories at Hazan Imports until he was laid-off in a downsizing sometime last year.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene Friday morning on streets crowded with tourists and commuters alike.

WNBC provides coverage of a mass shooting near the Empire State Building in New York City.

"I heard pop, pop, pop, pop, and I ran back into my offices,” Gloria Walker, a witness, told NBC News. "I ran, I ran, I ran."

The FDNY told NBC News they responded to a call about the shooting at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street at 9:07 a.m. Friday and arrived at 9:13 a.m.

The above is the best I can do, Bessie. (not sure how to post links)

It's breaking news and I'm following it on MSN's homepage. I did hear it on the last news report on the radio station I'm listening to, as well. So I'm sure it's all over the TV news right now.

I don't even know what to say. I don't understand why people keep doing things like this.

I'm at work. No TV's here. Wouldn't mind if you posted the odd update when you get a chance.

And thanks for starting the thread. I heard the breaking news on the radio this morning and on the drive into work. The last thing I heard before entering this hell-hole of a workplace (lol) was that is was a disgruntled employee and not terrorism.
