I bought an old cupboard at an antique sale this summer that needed to be repainted. Yesterday, we did just that.

During (Ack!!! It is pretty princess pink!):

After (had to go back to the paint store for a darker shade):

It turned out really nice. The top is a single piece of beautiful clear fir. It is going in my kitchen.

Great job Alice! What colors did you do your kitchen in?

My kitchen is done in random colors - whatever strikes my fancy. I am planning on putting my breadbox (which is a not quite pastel pink) on top of the cupboard so I decided to paint it a berry pink color. I think the pink panther would be proud of me.

I love it! I am jealous of it actually. Very nice job.

It turned out very nicely. Is that the same hardware? If it is, how did you get all that old paint off? I tried to remove paint from a metal heat vent cover once and ended up just getting a new one.

Thanks, everyone!

ES, it is the same hardware. My dad soaked it in bowl a gel paint remover and then alcohol. The paint came off pretty easy. He rubbed a bit at the more stubborn spots and it all came off. I like how they look unpainted, so I just left them that way.

He did a really good job, bringing the old pulls and hinges back to their original look. I just hate it when people paint over stuff like that or don't do a good job taping off the edges.

Lovely refurbishing work, I like to see things brought back to life that way. And it looks like a good solid cabinet, too.

I'm reminded of a dear old friend (gone now) whose house somehow ended up decorated mostly in shades of pink and green. She didn't decide on this, it just sort of developed.
