So on the way to work this morning, the person behind me kept riding my bumper. Slowing down, speeding up til i couldn't see his headlights then hitting the brakes, all that fun stuff. All during a school zone. School bus just out of the zone stops. Car in front of me stops. I stop. Guess who doesnt?
While I'm on the phone with the police, he's tapping on my window and tryign to get my attn, says it's too dangerous to be stopped there so close to the road (it's dark, couldn't tell how much the side sloped so I didn't pull off too far). Wants to go to the church about 50 ft ahead of us. I say sure. I turn into the church, he drives off. Since it was dark and he was behind me, I have no idea what kind of car it was or any other information.
I feel like a complete idiot for moving to the church parking lot. At the same time, it was dark, he was driving erratically (in my opinion) so I didn't want to get out of the car with him there and so close to the road, plus he could have driven off from there with little chance i'd get much of his plates on the way by anyways so there's no guarantee I'd be in a better position had I stayed.
Basically I'm just annoyed at myself and in general that ppl can be like that. Plus the fact that I have to pay to fix my car that someone else screwed up.
Oh no, that really bites. I am so sorry you had to deal with that. I am such a skeptic of people now from dealing with so many crappy customers but it is no way to live honestly.
Thanks guys - i'm extra annoyed because I spent forever debating if I even wanted to go into work this morning. Now I know the answer is always to just stay home if I have any doubts :)
EmmDee - I think working with customers simultaneously made me less shy and more...hopeless? about the human race. I'm still stuck in fairytale land where I just don't understand why people are intentionally mean or rude.
I hope this morning's commute was less eventful. Yesterday's was pretty crappy for you (and your car). Tailgaters are so annoying, especially the big pickup trucks that think they own the road.
Oh what a crappy thing for someone to do! I'm sorry you had a bad morning yesterday - hope today has been better. IVY on being annoyed that you have to pay to get your car fixed due to someone else's idiocy/negligence. Last winter someone pulled out of a side road without stopping or looking and hit me, and though they didn't drive off and my insurance covered the repairs, my insurance rates went up. A lot. Grrr....
I keep a camera in the car for accidents. My plan is to quickly take a picture of the driver in the driver's seat and car license should I get in an accident. Gotta have that plan in my head so I think about it if I need it.
Some people suck! I do hope he had major damage to his car.

Oh wow - so it wasn't your fault, but your insurance went up anyways? That's ridiculous
I had my phone camera, but didn't feel comfortable getting out in the dark (and i have no idea how to set the flash to ON). I guess next time I'll get out anyways and if they freak out about me trying to get the info I'll scream bloody murder.
Insurance is covering almost all of it (more than I had thought) and it's still drivable since we were going slow before it happened. So today is good. And no more wrecks so far! Thanks for the well-wishes (and evil-wishes for the other driver ;) )
