Spoiler

Yes, he said there are 108 males to every female in Alaska.  That's very hard to believe but I've never actually been to Alaska so I'll just confuse over that one.  But I HAVE been to Nevada.  Lots of times -- And although I haven't had occasion to count, I can tell you that there are NOT 103.8 males for every female!

Even if I was in the market for a man, I wouldn't move to Alaska. It is way to cold there.

I don't know who Bristol is but do you think he/she is happy they named a poop chart after him/her? I don't think I would want to be remembered for that. If it was between having a poop chart named for me or everyone forgetting me I would choose everyone forgetting mebiggrin.

Bristol is a town and also common surname in England. This could well be named after a doctor or the town.

My curiousity was up, so I googled it, thinking for some reason the chart was a joke thought up by a plumbing company. Turns out it is a medical tool. From Wikipedia:

The Bristol stool scale or Bristol stool chart is a medical aid designed to classify the form of human faeces into seven categories. Sometimes referred to in the UK as the "Meyers scale",[1] it was developed by Dr. Ken Heaton at the University of Bristol and was first published in the Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology in 1997.[2] The authors of that paper concluded that the form of the stool is a useful surrogate measure of colon transit time. That conclusion has since been challenged as having limited validity, and only in types 1 and 2 when the subject is not constipated.[3] However, it remains in use as a research tool to evaluate the effectiveness of treatments for various diseases of the bowel, as well as a clinical communication aid

I think it is bad that I found the Bristol chart interesting.

I was interested enough to go to the sources cited on Wiki and read them too. It would be a lot easier for most people to say to the doctor "Um, mine is usually a 4" than to have to describe it in detail.

I believe the stool chart is named after the University of Bristol, where it was developed.

Perhaps the individuals who created this chart, er, preferred to let the university take the honor of having a poop chart named after it.

I admit I have wondered about the reason for Bristol Palin's name, but then I'm always puzzled b naming girl babies after places. And why Bristol or Brooklyn but not, say, Liverpool or Omaha?

All four of my girls' names are -place- names.
But there are plenty of boy babies with place names as well. I don't see it as a girl thing.

I'm very sorry, dqm, I meant no offense.

I haven't come across boys named after places but I am in the less fashionable Midwest so no doubt behind the times.

confuseno offense taken even in the slightest.  Now I'm wondering why you thought I was offended LOL!

Here are some boys that I know who have place names:

Mitchell (SD) his sister's name is Madison (SD)
Austin (TX)
Chad (Africa)
Paris (France also from Mythology) I know both a boy and a girl with this name
Orlando (FL) -I don't know him personally but I'm thinking Orlando Bloom
Syndey (Australia)
Israel --
Chandler (TX?)
Jackson (MS)
Lincoln (NE)
Eugene (OR)

I also like the name Dutch for a boy although I don't personally know anyone with that name but I liked it from the original Predator movie.

dqm, I didn't think you were offended but didn't want you to think I disapprove of place names for girls, often they are very pretty names.

Other than Paris, I've met little boys with all the names you listed, but never thought of them as -place- names, though obviously they really are!  Silly me

Possibly NSFW so spoilered.  It's not obscene but it is ODD and sexual (if you're weird enough to go there)

A funny note to this thread is that I was looking for male/female ratios the other day because of a conversation about Chinese birth rates.
Some folks were positing that Chinese men would become violent due to a lack of women.
But it looks like they got this one covered.
Chinese hospitals are evidently providing a free public service to men who don't have women.
Or is it to men who don't have hands?

That depends on how much it costs to buy one for home use... I can't think of too many guys that would want to go to the hospital as their ONLY "non-handed" option...

LOL if you were going to post your picture on the Internet, while holding that sign, wouldn't you want to make sure all of you spelling is correct. You are talking about a "village idiot" and don't bother to proof readno. At least when I screw up here I can take comfort in the fact that no one knows what I look like lol.

I keep wanting to make excuses for her. Maybe that's not a dorm room. I'm looking at the shorts thinking maybe she's at cheer camp but the text/note books on the desk and the amount of crap in the room belies that.
But hey, at least she's cute. She has really nice teeth.
