My workplace is on a well, too. The pump went out one day - took them several days to get it fixed. We had people still using the restrooms, even though there was no water flow to flush them. We ended up using the bottled water from the coffee makers and coolers to flush, and even with the 'do not use' signs up had to do that a few more times. (Because it was soooooooooo difficult to walk across the street to the other company building, where everything worked just fine.)
I would've walked! More time away from desk? Hell yeah.
Same here. It was even more fun when we had only one building, which had periodic septic problems. Lots of McDonald's trips then!
I'm glad they fixed your power kina, it's sounds like a real pain to have no power + no water!!!
Gooood morning, she's doing great! She's a doll we are very blessed by having a well behaved kiddo. And that makes me afraid of having another one, because there's the big big possibility that we are going to pay for her being so good with a kid that'll be a hand full LOL
I need to go look at some student files, which I am allowed to do, but the one woman in this building who I've never thought liked me is manning the front desk, which is where the files are stored. If it were the usual guy, I'd feel better. She just doesn't speak and stares at me with this annoyed look on her face. I always try to be nice, cheerful even, and almost overly polite, but her demeanor never changes. Hoping she takes a lunch soon. Otherwise I will have to just deal with being uncomfortable for a while.
I'm in the middle of configuring a new laptop for work, it's a really slow process I have to install 4 or 5 really heavy programs and I've been doing this since yesterday. I want to play with my new laptop NOOOOW lol
Can't see much if all you do is peek, can you, Velma?
Mouton, I didn't know you hired our former receptionist. It's rough having someone staring at you like you're a corporate spy trying to get information you shouldn't have.
I always feel bad when people talk about quiet people making them uncomfortable. Probably because I am an extremely quiet person and I know it makes people uncomfortable but I can't change who I am simply because people aren't comfortable with others who don't act similar to them. Obviously I can't comment on the woman's staring as that is an entirely different issue. :P
I'm like that. And I feel "frozen" and any thoughts just fly out of my head. Around my family my sense of humor is rather sarcastic and I'm a bit of a loudmouth. No one who knows me outside would ever guess.
Oh CIS, when I say quiet I mean more like...rudely silent. For example, I will say, "Hi Jane! How are you?" *silent stare from her with annoyed look on face* "I just need to look through the student folders for XYZ information, will I be disturbing you?" *silent stare, turning back to her computer* "Ok..." It is beyond just being quiet. I am not a chatty person, I say my niceties and then I go about my business, I am not hoping for small talk while I work or anything. But a response to my questions, even a nod or slight upturn of the corners of her mouth, would go a long way here.

Yes, this is how I interpretted the 'quiet'. It's the watching that's uncomfortable, although most people when you first walk in will acknowledge you when you let them know why you're there.
Well, so far, the farmer kills his family and is then bitten by the dog, the cat dines on their flesh, the livestock become zombies and destroy world, but the cheese survives cause zombies don't eat cheese.
