I'm currently wading through large volume of Sherlock Holmes. I'm really enjoying it and actually figuring out some of the cases. It's just a long, double-columned book!

When you keep reading the back of your moisturizer bottle on the table When you keep reading the warning on the pack of cigarettes When you seek out a foreign film just to read captions!
I am STILL reading Wicked. I have the whole series on my Kindle but I think after I finish the first book I'm going to switch over to the Sookie Stackhouse books. I just started watching True Blood (am 2 seasons in) and I want to see what the books are like.
I'm really looking forward to starting them. I love the tv series so far I'm sure I'll love the books too. I haven't been this excited to start a book in a while. Nothing has really grabbed me and pulled me in lately. I'm thinking of making time to finish Wicked tomorrow so I can start them this week. Plus now that I've seen the actors who play the parts I will have a good visual for the books.
I'm tempted to put Sherlock aside and dive into some of the stuff I bought this week. I spent $50 at HPB this week - but only because my grandma gave me some fun money.

I'm currently on my second read through of the "Game of Thrones" books. I think the official name of the books is something "Ice & Fire." I like many of George R. R. Martin's fans hope he lives long enough to complete the series. He is getting on in age and as far as the last book that was released goes, there's at least 2 more books to go. I'm hoping Tyrion ends up king, but the way he kills off favorite characters there's no guaranteeing that he continues to live.
I also love Robin Hobb's books... and David Eddings, and Anne McCaffrey. I am so sad Anne and David died. I re-read their books on a regular basis.
We've been watching Game of Thrones. I may have to read the books now. My husband keeps saying, "That didn't happen in the book" or "In the book it went this way...." about various scenes.

The real name of the series is "A Song of Ice and Fire". The purist in me hates that noone calls them that anymore.
I meant to be rereading the Sherlock Holmes. I've got them on my kindle and I've got a gorgeous three volume hardcover set that has illustrations on the bindings to show a picture of Sherlock smoking his pipe when lined up correctly. But I got sidetracked and started rereading "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince." I'm also working on a freebie book on my kindle, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells."
I'm reading the first book of the Iron Druid series, Hounded, since it was on sale one day for the kindle book. I think Gone with the Wind is the next book up for me. I am also re-reading the Wheel of Time books since I have never read the last 3-4 books of that series and want to finally find out what happens.

I always thought that "Game of Thrones" was a better series name. "Song of Ice and Fire" just doesn't really capture the feeling of the series for me. It's too vague, too generic IMO.
Right now I'm reading "Nightshifted" which is about a nurse who works in the supernatural wing of a hospital. It's well done. Plus I feel like there are so many detectives, assassins, vampire slayers etc it's nice to see somebody in a different field in the genre.
GWTW is one of my favorite books. I have read it like 30 times and its interesing to me how I perceived it at 13 vs as an adult.
I have to finish up the WOT series too. I have all the books I think.
Too much to read!
Seriously? How did I not know this? It's my absolute fave of all time, have read it at least 30 times, and also read it for the first time at 13. I am so excited over this!

Probably because I don't come off as a GWTW girl? Dude, somewhere I have plates and collectibles too. I think in my mom's basement.

I have a few Christmas ornaments and some trivia books. I think a making of the movie, too.

Awesome!! :D I don't know how many times I watched the movie either. My great grandma introducec it to me when I was 12 or 13 and loaned me her book and that's all she wrote.

I have a TON of freebies on my Kindle App. I don't like reading at my desktop, though, so I haven't really gone through any of them. Someday, I will get a Kindle...someday....

What are some of the ways your perception of it has changed? I find that interesting,
I seldom reread books and I have a bad memory so I'm not sure I would even remember the way I originally perceived something. Maybe a reread would bring some of that back to me though.

I think as I got older, I got more the societal implications of the book and I was able to appreciate the relationships more. The first time I read it, I was 13 and read it like a romance. Then as I got older, I read it more as a OMG this society really sucked thing. I don't know if that makes sense and I could pick out characters's motives better too.
I actually understood Scarlett more as I reread. A lot of people just see the movie and think she's a spoiled bitch, but she's a wonderfully complex, complicated character.

I got two cheap books on my Kindle the other night. One Joyce Carol Oates (The Mudwoman?) and another by Jennifer McMahon (Don't Breathe A Word). I'm guessing both were on special because they're not very good, but I usually like stuff by both authors so we'll see how this goes.

That's interesting, and I think I know what you mean. When I read it at around the same age I think I saw it as-and wanted it to be-just an entertaining soap opera like story. Because of that, there were things about it that really bothered me. I didn't examine them closely though. If I read it now I would have a really different view of it with regards to class and gender and especially to race.
