She's doing awesome, I'm proud of "our" Blueberry!
She really is doing wonderfully. :D All of her invisible aunties had a hand in it i know (and invisible uncles too Richard)
You can thank Blueberry for me not killing you in the zeta board mafia game. As the SK I was ready to do it but then I thought of Blueberry and just could not. So I killed someone else instead.
apparently the mafia did not share your aversion. and i TOTALLY pimp her out to stay alive in mafia games :D
chocolate she has a true aversion to eating. it goes beyond being picky, though being stubborn is probably part of it. To the point that she sometimes starts fussing when she sees a bottle, or sippy cup. She has no physical or neurological limitations to eating, that we know of, it is more likely anxiety and some measure of not knowing how to appropriately handle liquids.
Interesting, JMF. I don't think I have ever heard of that. What does her pediatrician think? Is she in daycare? How old is she? I know this is not the modern norm, but I started mine on solids at 4 months. My mother started me at 2-3 months. I realize they moved it to 6 months to try to avoid developing food allergies, but recent studies say that doesn't make a hoot of a difference.
Worrying about whether our children receive proper nutrition is stressful. I feel for you, JMF.
Hugs to you JMF, I can't even imagine how you feel. I panic when my LO refuses to eat her normal amount in a day... Your blueberry is very very cute!!! And has a great smile!!
For those who were not on zeta, JMF's Blueberry was born with serious medical issues. The feeding tube is probably her 'normal'. So, the issues with food by mouth are not your run-of-the-mill issues by a long shot.
Thank you kinalikamom. I am not on zeta, and just started posting here. Both my children spent a little bit of time in the NICU, so I understand a little about this. Just a little though, because neither were in long and did not have any serious issues.
I hope this is a condition her wee one will soon outgrow and this will all be a distant memory.

oh ya, i forget not everyone knows our story, and for us her feeding tube is so mundane. The way i explain it IRL seem so inadequate "she was on a breathing machine for about 6 weeks, and so she doesn't really like her bottle." But yet, that is the honest truth. But we are making progress, she even touched the puffs on purpose. now she didn't eat them, but she touched them anyway. :P
chocolate she is 8 months old as of friday. where is my baby going!

Oh fvck, that sucks. Hope Blueberry gets better.

JMF thanks for the run down on what's up with Blueberry. I was curious, but didn't want to bring it up as I wasn't sure you wanted to talk about it. I knew the tube meant she had medical issues, but I didn't feel like I had the right to ask what was wrong with her.
Me, too! I just found out my work doesn't block me from this board, although it blocks me from Zetaboards. So, I'll be here during the workweek days, and can go on the other one at night! Cool!

i don't mind talking about it at all.
there was a running update while she was in the hospital, so most of the board peeps know what was going on, so i don't talk about it much on the board anymore. I would be glad to answer any questions, or tell you our story. PM me anytime.
If anyone is interested you can go to http://www.childrensforhope.com Our episode is the first one on there, and one set of the bonus footage is the day we went home.
Jmf I was practically in tears watching your story, you have my respect and prayers. I wish I could offer more than virtual hugs.
aww thanks.
she is home and happy and healthy. There are a few things we have to watch out for, but so far all signs point to a positive long term prognosis.
and today she put a cracker in her mouth. on purpose!!
I've worked in two childrens' hospitals and have seen my share of all sorts of things visited upon children (as have you in your field); it's always wonderful when there is a positive outlook/prognosis concerning a child. I hope Blueberry continues to grow and prosper (and, to give her Mommy a hard time!)
