On what planet is this a good idea? Glitter is a BITCH to clean up. There's a reason it's called the herpes of the crafting world! If this is going to become a thing (and if Pinterest is any indication, it is), I foresee many venues banning glitter.

We did rice :D The downfall from that is that I got about a pound of rice between my boobs and it was very very funny when I removed the dress on our wedding night lol.
It's one of those ideas that sounds awesome at first. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't think these things through. Somebody needs to invent bio-degradable glitter. THen you could have glitter at outdoor weddings, at least.
DH really wanted to do something thrown (I wanted to have bubbles), so we got some sort of white sugary hearts that were about the size of two grains of rice. Rice was banned from our site because of the danger to birds, but this stuff was ok.
I was picking that out of my dress and bra allll night.
I've been to weddings where we were given small bottles of bubbles, but don't remember the last time anyone threw rice. Glitter is a booger to clean up, so hopefully that fad will never make it to the sticks.
We did bubbles but in the end did not even really use them. Rice is fine to throw. The whole bird exploding thing is a myth. I think they made the rule because like glitter it is hard to clean up.
BA, I think the issue was with the INSTANT rice. It doesn't literally make them "blow up" but it does swell inside their stomachs as it absorbs water and it can kill them.
I direct them to snopes. Of course I posted on the other invisapeeps board that sometimes people get all butthurt when you snopes them but oh wells. I hate misinformation and I don't mind if someone snopes me. I want to know the right info.
I have never found snopes to be inaccurate. Do you have examples? I was under the impression they research stuff themselves and then put the truth on there.
Related story for my Uncle's wedding we did bird seed. Well we totally filled up his camero with bird seed in the little pockets on the doors and the console. I think he was pissed. I was too young to know better (middle school age) and my Dad told me to do it and didn't stop me. I think he probably had to have the car detailed afterwards. I don't blame him for being pissed.
I don't have any that I can point to, no (at the times I came across factual errors of theirs, I didn't think there would be a test later ). But I have, in the past, found them to be, shall we say, "less than accurate".

Hahaha filling the camero! I'll bet he was pissed!
As for snopes, there was an article published not too long ago stating that there is a lot of misinformation spread with them. I'll see if I can find it.
I found that article about Snopes... but it seemed somewhat biased, and was contradicted by a different fact checking site (factcheck.org)... so I didn't want to post it because it's not 100% unimpeachable evidence.
The Article does mention some good facts about Snopes though... like it's just a husband and wife, in their home. NO "Research crew", NO massive library of data, NO labs/campus... Just the two of them, their phone, and Google.

I haven't thrown stuff at weddings for at least 10+ years. Even in India, they had a rose petal walkway but guests did not throw anything at the bridal couple.
