My family is keeping a dog for a year while the owner is deployed in Kuwait. Dog is very sweet, active, friendly...what you'd expect from a 1 year old Lab. However, she has this THING where she apparently gets massive diarrhea whenever my mom is out of town. The first time it happened, we thought it was the flea treatment. She had diarrhea for 2 days before we took her to the vet. Now she has been having it for 3 days. I cleaned the carpet FOUR TIMES TODAY. I went to the pet store to get some doggie Pedialyte. I was gone for about 45 minutes...there's diarrhea on the floor. I put her outside and clean the carpet. While I am rinsing out the carpet cleaner's bucket, she has MORE diarrhea on the carpet!
Now she is outside. Forever. (not really, I'm a huge softie.)
She's had TWO pills today that are doggie kaopectate. Not helping. I have fed her a total of 1 cup of food today, and she usually gets 6 cups a day. So I've cut off all food. Nothing but water and Pedialyte until tomorrow. I got a can (almost $6 a can, btw) of food for dogs with digestive distress. It has pumpkin and electrolytes in it.
