IVY!!! I am so &#!)*%#)?<>})^$@##&% sick of cleaning off my car and having to drive in this! I'm at work now; I'll probably be leaving early; wish I had more vacation days so I could have just spent the day in bed!
My frail, elderly, wrinkled, sure-to-give-out-at-any-moment heart can't take it!
LOL, it is Buffalo, it does weird ****. I remember one day it was 60 degrees all day, and sunny. Well, except for 10 minutes when it was snowing! Hopefully Buffalo does not infect any other area, lol.
This weather is so strange. On Sat., I was in mid-town NYC, where it was 46 degrees and sunny and I was wearing a light leather jacket and no hat, scarf or gloves. I was perfectlly fine. What a difference 48 hrs. can make!
My mom got a foot of the darn stuff last night and she's sick of it. We managed to just skirt the edge of it, but there are two more storms heading our way this week. I doubt we'll be that lucky again! Oh well - at least I already went to the store for french toast supplies!

I'm not actually making french toast, but its three basic ingredients are what everyone runs to the store for (along with toilet paper). Milk, eggs, and bread are really all you need, but I put a little cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla in the milk/egg coating.

Non-stick spray? If you're eating french toast, might as well use butter. Everything is better with butter.
I feel for you guys who are getting all the snow. We have been REALLY FREAKING COLD, but you don't have to shovel snow. As long as my car starts and my pipes don't freeze I'm OK.
ETA: Sorry, you DO have to shovel snow, it's COLD that doesn't have to be shoveled.

My sentiments exactly! It started here again this afternoon while I was running errands and when I got home I got stuck in my own driveway. Last week our office closed at noon on Tuesday, but I wasn't even able to go in that morning. Puxitawny Phil needs to be replaced with a more accommodating ground hog.
We got another 3 inches of the stuff today. You take your life in your hands every time you get to an intersection, the piles on most corners are so high.
Is anyone else hearing about a scarcity of salt? I swear it's on every newscast.
We got another...3? inches yesterday, but that's supposed to be it until Thursday. I'm glad it came yesterday (if it HAD to come) because I'm making the 60-mile trip down to Hometown for my grandfather's birthday.

Have a safe trip, Aardie! And congratulations to your grandfather. My dad, if he were still alive, would have been celebrating his 99th birthday in a couple of weeks.
My area (Berks county, PA) has 'enough' so far except stories in the paper have sighting of trucks from NYC lined up to buy it here.
It was freezing rain this morning here and we walked to school in it. I am guessing they are cancelling school tomorrow since we might get anywhere up to 3 inches. We are an area that cancels if we have any snow accumulation.
Our city is running low on salt. I work for a small government agency loosly affiliated with the city. We get company vehicle gaas and maintenance at the city garage and pay the city. Last week they cut us off on the salt supply.
Have a safe trip Aardvark with plenty of salt in Hometown and the highway leading there.

I can't take this anymore! Two more inches this morning and more on the way Wed. night into Thurs.
Idiot neighbor parks in the street, and for some stupid reason insists on parking almost directly across from my driveway. The street is already down to a land and a half, so it's tough enough to turn into and out of my driveway - I don't need the added risk of backing into that stupid car.
Schools cancelled tomorrow here just for threat of snow.
i expect that schools here will be closed on Thursday, since we are supposed to get a decent snowfall on Wednesday night.
we haven't even had that much snow here this year, and most districts are out of snow days. because they closed in anticipation of the threat of snow, not actual snow.
We 2 hour delayed one day just because of cold. Then two weeks ago I guess it was when the south had that snowstorm that closed down Atlanta and other cities we were out for half a day Tues-Friday. So that was a lot of days already. I think they are running out of snow days here too as we normally don't get ANY. Not sure what is going to happen with them trying to make the kids make them up. I know when June hits and school is supposed to be out I wanna be at the pool! Gotta take advantage of our expensive pool membership!
I am thinking they might be out most of this week too if it does end up snowing. So that means they might miss their Valentine's party on Friday. :( I hope not. I guess they would reschedule it I would hope. My kids worked hard on their Valentine boxes and valentines and I bought a bunch of crap for the class parties already. I also got to go out of town this weekend to the circus with my Dad and the kids so I hope the way will be clear and safe!
just saw the weather report. we have a snowstorm moving in here on Wednesday night, with significant snowfall. it's coming from the South, which means we're probably gonna get hit. when it comes from the West, over the mountains, we don't tend to get much snow.
guess i'd better check my supplies...i may need more wine and chips!
Schools here have used up their snow days, and the waivered days, and we're used to the snow. A lot of the closings have been because of the cold, too. When you don't bus kids unless they live at least a mile from school, and the bus stops are spread out quite a bit, you can't have kids outside when it's below 0 before the wind chill.
Heck, work has been closed 2-1/2 days, and that had never happened.
It should be above 20 Thursday to Monday, which means more snow.

I think I'll send DH out with instructions to clear the stores out of Reislings and Lambrusco. Obviously the only way to cope with this darn stuff is total inebriation!
We have another huge storm coming Thursday. I am so tired of snow and ice! We're renting this place and if we lose power I don't know what we'll do. I guess try to find another coworker of DH's to hang out with, no kerosene heaters etc.
Marie, this is an awful "welcome to the east coast" for you. I have lived here for over 33 years and can only remember one other year (1994) that was as depressing as this one. Try to hold on to the thought that this is NOT typical.
If you are able, can afford it, and can get to one, a hotel might be a nice place to hang out for a day or two.
We live in the woods and it's just DH and me now and we are pretty much set. We have wood for the fireplace, a little-used kerosene heater, drinking and flushing water stockpiled--we have a well which means if power goes out, no water--and oil lamps (3) ready to go. PLus gas for the snowblower. And wine.
I remember the torment of being stuck without power with a little one. HOpe you can find a safe haven!
