I wanted to cry this morning. Idiot neighbor parked even closer to my driveway last night. Backing out this morning I started to turn too soon and ended up stuck in the snow pile along my drive. Ended up having to call a tow truck. No damage to the car or my tires, thank goodness. And I squelched the urge to smash the neighbor's car.

Kina - thanks. I do keep hearing that this is abnormal but geez! Seems like I'm always arriving in new places for crazy weather. I have no wine, but I have disaronno and vanilla vodka. I have hot chocolate mix and a gas stove so if it just lasts the one day we should be ok. I just hope DH doesn't get stuck at the job site. If he's here then I won't worry so much - plus he's my heater . He and DS both run hot so if I can just cuddle up with them we should stay warm.

My company doesn't give personal days or snow days so it's either sacrifice a vacation day or don't get paid if I don't come in tomorrow.

I'm just so sick of cleaning the snow and ice off of my car.  I just want to crawl up in a ball and cry!

I will join you in your playpen and we can wail together!

Well, as I see it, winds, there's your problem right there. That squelching thing is what's going to give you ulcers! Unsquelch and SMASH!

There...now don't you feel better?

Me too! Maybe if we all cry now we won't cry later and have our tears freeze to our faces.

It's not helping that my office was 66 degrees when I walked in. Maintenance was already working on the problem, one office was 62. It's up to 68 now! Indoor heat wave!

Well school cancelled for us again today. About 8 am this morning we got some sleet that turned into big fluffy flakes. Heading out after lunch with the kids to play in it. Should be fun!

Winds- I would totally go yell at my neighbor after that. Tell him what happened about you having to call a two truck etc and tell him not to park close to your driveway. Otherwise next time it might be his car that gets hit. That should be enough motivation to have them stop. I hate when people won't park in their dang driveways.

I don't know which neighbor it is - and it could be one of the guys who doesn't have a driveway. And I sure don't blame anyone for not wanting to park in the alley if that's where their garage is - chances are real good you wouldn't get out most mornings. If I see whoever when they're at the car, I'll talk to them, but I'm not going to start a neighborhood fight by yelling at someone.

I'm so happy for you!  No really, I am.  Not envious at all, just really, really, really happy for you.

Meanwhile, in the real world, I'm eating Tostitos scoops for lunch.  It's too cold to go out, and they are stripping and waxing the breakroom floor during working hours.  So no access to the vending machines at all.  I have no clue where the production people ate.  (Come to think of it, that's where their bathrooms are, too.  What the hell was HR thinking?  Some things should be done after working hours - not that difficult, I wouldn't think.)

That reminds me, I must stop at Trader Joe's on the way home this evening and stock up for my 5-day weekend.  Luckily, there is a liquor store near TJ so I will get a bottle or two of wine.wink

LOL, that is because I still remember middle school and high school vividly.  And our university has better access to heating (and therefore the preschool) than homes do because of the extra generators, so there have been times we have considered staying at the university late because of the weather.  So, crashing at school makes sense in my crazy world.

Hell, during the NY state of emergency, many students, including student families stayed on campus because it was safer.

iluv - I'm so glad you're getting a long weekend! I've cleaned, running all the laundry and dishes, found the candles and put the flashlight by my bed. I plan to sleep with a light on so if it goes off I'll know to go get DS so he doesn't get too cold with no power. DH is convinced I'm way overreacting. I'm considering drinking tonight just to calm myself down. Yeesh. I told him I wanted to fill up the bathtub and his response was "If it will make you feel better." Grr. They are opening the job site tomorrow but said they don't have to be in till 9. From what I see on weather.com, that is NOT a good thing. Stupid weather! I'll be here tomorrow unless we lose power.

Winds- I guess you could leave a note on the car. I would start off by being polite. Make it more about concern for their vehicle not getting damaged by you on accident.

I almost moved one of our cars down to the end of our driveway since we have to back out of the garage on a hill to get out but then figured, we are not going anywhere so who cares.
We had some snow then it rained and melted it. Then it picked back up again and now we have like 6 inches and counting! I just pray we don't lose power.

The kids and I sledded a bit in the yard and Robot played scoop the snow with his truck. Then we walked down the street a bit and it started really coming down and it was blowing in our faces! So we were walking backwards back to the house fast. Then came in and it started piling up snow.

We plan on building a fantastic snowman tomorrow! :) They have never seen this much snow before.

We've got 6" about and its still coming down fast and heavy. DH agreed to work from home - yay! I wish DS liked to play in the snow, so far he just squalls every time we put him down to walk in it etc. Maybe next year will be better!

We have almost 9 inches which is unprecedented for around here. Have not seen this much snow in 15 years. I am bummed because we were supposed to go to Atl on Sat morning to go to the circus and I don't think we will be able to unless it all melts. I won't go if the roads are not clear. They did have a plow come do our main road but our driveway is super snowed up so not safe and our neighborhood road is a little snowy. Glad DH works at home. Power went off and on all night last night and it woke me up every time. My mommy brain is clued into that so if it goes off I would know to go cover the kids up with more blankets. They kick them off. But luckily Praise the Lord it always came back on. So we have power. Many around this area do not.

Going out to get pics and build a snow man with the kids in a little bit. It is going to be so cold!

So glad you have power BA. I kept waking up to ck that the power was on even though DS was sleeping with us to stay warm.

It doesn't help that every time the power goes off the microwave beeps really loudly and the DVD player in our bedroom makes some whirring noise and our ceiling fan shuts off. That is what wakes me up. I have to have that fan on for a breeze and some white noise and when it shuts off I notice.

If your power keeps going on and off, it would be best to unplug most of your electronic items, including the microwave, so nothing shorts out.

I'm listening to the news and hearing about all the traffic accidents. Yes, this was certainly worth using two vacation days. I can barely see out my windows. It's just massive white out there.

Well, at least we can dig out of our troubles eventually and put on another layer to keep warm.

There's a limit (and pesky laws to enforce it) as to how much clothing you can remove to cope being outside.

Winds- I definitely was mumbling in my sleep last night telling DH to go unplug his computer and other stuff but he wouldn't budge. It shut off again this morning for 20 minutes but came back on thank the Lord. All the snow is melting now. We had fun sledding and making a snowman. The kids could not believe it came up over their boots. I measured 9 inches!

I don't remember where I saw it but there are pretty scary/amazing photos of the US storm 'holding hands' with the storm walloping the UK. Poor UK is just so horribly flooded right now with no end in sight.

Snow, I don't miss snow in the slightest. Not even that first snowfall that is supposed to be so pretty lol.

I hope all of you surrounded by the stuff stay warm and safe!

When I lived in Michigan it was February and March that just killed me. The unrelenting grey skies, the unrelenting cold damp cold cold. It seemed like it would never end! Then it would thaw and we'd get all excited. Until it snowed again. On Mothers Day lol.

I agree with the never-ending bit. I have always loved watching it snow, but when I looked out to the big fat pretty flakes today, I just wanted to cry. DS will be so happy to run around outside this summer but that seems forever away.
