My grandson would probably have a blast playing in the snow, but it's been too darn cold to let him play outside. and I know his mom is going stir crazy not being able to get out except from her house to her mom's, or for real excitement, to walk around walmart for an hour.

LOL. I know, kinalikamom, I did it myself today, and I go to work everyday, not stuck in an apartment with a toddler.

I guess this isn't the thread I should complain that it was too hot for me yesterday on, huh? Yesterday we hit 85 and I was not prepared for it.

Actually, I feel better now. I'd much rather deal with 2 feet of snow and 22 degrees than 85 in February. And I sure as hell don't want to deal with Texas summer temps.

Well, I am quite glad to help. Really, 85 in February is pretty ****ed up IMO. What is worse is that just a few days earlier the highs were in the 30s. We went from 30 degrees below the norm to 20 degrees above the norm in a matter of days.

I'm waffling between telling you not to do that and just joining you. We're supposed to travel out of state on Thursday for a memorial service this Saturday. This is something I really really want to do and seeing this potential roadblock (we are all aware how forecasts can change!) makes me angry. And of course, there's nothing to do about it.

grrrrr

eta: our forecast has more for tomorrow night

Well I made it out of town after all! The snow melted super fast and the roads actually got sanded and salted. So the roads were clear and I made it there and back 2 hours out of town.

Glad you had a safe trip BA. We've got several friends traveling this weekend and I hope they are all staying safe.
DS gave me his cold, darn it. We are supposed to hit 50 by Friday - I'm really looking forward to it. Of course then all this snow will turn everything into a mud pit.

It's going to be above freezing towards the end of the week, which means there's probably going to be flooding. And icy roads every morning since the stuff will just pool on the roads and refreeze every night.

Too bad you guys can't pipeline the excess from the thawing ice/snow and send it down to those in droughts.

I'm procrastinating.  I should be typing the minutes from the last Friends of the Library meeting, but I don't wanna.  I may hit the shower and then get some knitting done.  Or I'll just be lazy and play on the computer watching Bar Rescue.

Most schools here are going to lose the holiday to make up for some of the extra snow days. And we're going to get another 4-6 inches of snow, just to keep things interesting.

They are now predicting 4 - 8 inches for my area (CT) from Sunday night into Monday morning. I don't know if I should just take another vacation day or what! Hate the thought of using all my PTO for this stuff.hmm.gif

ETA:  The public schools in my town have now used up all their allotted snow days; any other snow days will come out of spring vacation or means extending the school year.

6-12 here. With ice and rain thrown in for good measure.

That's it. I don't need running water or plumbing. I am going to move and live homeless on a tropical beach somewhere.

You know, there are probably many places in this world where we could do that; we'd just have to make sure we have plenty of sun screen and insect repellent.

They've just amended the forecast to 6 to 10 inches.  I want to cry!tears.gif

No need for shoving, there is plenty of room.  You think I would find a place where we all would not fit?  Plenty of booze and sunscreen.

my son may never get the rest of his Christmas presents. Only 3-4 inches forecast here, but 6-10 between here and Indy, and I can't risk getting stuck and not able to get back home tomorrow.

I know he and his friends are sick of the weather down there, too. They are not used to that much snow, or cold.

Long term forecast said severe winter conditions to be expected through the end of March. Yippee skippee

We're getting another storm tomorrow night/Monday morning. This really irks me, because Aunt Awesome, whom I haven't gotten to see since Christmas, can't come up as planned. On the plus side, though, they've shifted the heavy snowfall to the south, so we're only supposed to get 3 - 6 inches instead of 6 - 12.

Come see me in 20 years and we'll talk. (You'll be a shoo-in!)  Keep up the innocent appearances and try to make everyone think you're sweet (you're doing great so far!). If you can cultivate a slightly dotty aura, even better. Don't rush it, though. Let it build over time. It's part of the 'never suspected' thing. wink

it's the dumpy, older part that counts, Aurora.

but i definitely think you need to be inducted into the Apprentice class...so you can start honing those innate skills!  wink

maybe you can be the look-out.  or logistics.  i'll bet you'd kill at logistics....

'dotty' is essential.  the 'dotty' act, when executed properly, will ensure that whoever irritates you will never see the spork coming before it lands in their throat.

which the jerk at the service department found out yesterday.....

and it was a beautiful thing.

so says the almost-60 year old jha, with her dumpy butt and gray hair.
