O.k. ... got an answer... Necco Wafers (technically not a candy "bar"... but it's bar-ish when it's still wrapped). Depressing and not even remotely living up to the advertising.

I thought about that one... but it actually is what it is advertised as... so didn't fit quite as well.

I've actually had Necco Wafers... they advertise on their wrapper as "Great Flavors"... but they ALL taste like chalk (and yes... I know what chalk tastes like... nothing like getting "eraser banging" as a punishment in Elementary school!).

Flavor or texture?

I bought a bag of Lemonhead hearts today. They're not bad - pretty flavorful and they're not hard as rocks.

A little of both... they are "almost" sweet... like the manufacturer didn't put in quite enough sugar in the batch (or used "Equal"... which AIN'T sugar... LOL), and when they break up in your mouth they have the consistency of chalk.
