Any IT/internet suggestions?

We have 50 mbps internet.  We had issues at first that it was being strangled by the router to less than 2.  We fixed that.  Now DH's Apple laptop gets the 45+ and I am only getting 10-16 on my Dell Windows 8.1 laptop.  Anyone have ideas of what to look at to see why this is happening?

My first suggestion would be to re-boot the driver on your internal modem on your laptop. I'm not sure how to do it on a Win 8 system (I'm only "up to" Win 7 myself), but the end result is you need to disable it, then enable it again.

I *think* DH did it, but I am not sure and will ask to be certain. I know DH tested the speed on his netbook which has Windows XP I believe and it was rating 20-35.

It also wouldn't hurt to clear your cache.

 

ETA: Sometimes when the cache gets close to assigned capacity it causes a slowdown, while it decides what to delete/change/save.
