with the following comment "Regardless if you agree with PETA these pics are still proof." I am not seeing how the actual photos are proof of anything. The captions are making claims that I don't know if they are true or not. To be clear, I am not disputing or agreeing with the claims. I am disputing that the proof is in the photos. I don't see anything that can't possibly have another explanation and feel the captions are causing you to see what they want.

I don't know how much of it is actual abuse. Animals in box trailers, yes. Housing of them in cages, yes. Animals in restraint, yes. All of these photos could have other explanations though. Who knows if the 100 hours in a box trailer is an accurate number but how else are they supposed to transport them, in first class airline seat? Of course they are kept in cages at some point, how do we know this is their "permanent" housing and not part of the traveling accommodations? I'm sure large animals are restrained when it comes time for checkups and medical stuffs. I do not know if these photos are innocent snaps of moments that are being twisted or if they are actually instances of abuse. That is my point though, those photos could have other explanations and without the captions, my mind would not have gone to thinking the worst one most of them. In fact, I don't believe some of the photos so what is being said in the caption at all.
I am totally judging the "these pics are still proof" way more than I am judging PETA. PETA has an agenda. Media and such distort things and use photos in a deceptive way all of the time.
With photoshop, it's getting increasingly difficult to view photos as proof. Photos capture a moment in time, not a full portrait of any given situation. Even videos don't always tell a true story, what with editing. Suddenly, everyone with a cell phone or cameraphone is a documentary film maker.
I'm a "card carrying" (figuratively speaking) member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals), and I agree with you EmmDee... those pictures could easily have a hundred other perfectly acceptable reasons for the situation shown.

So many things can be taken out of context, especially when you have an agenda. I know that years ago peta put out photos of lab animals "living" in tiny little cages. The tiny cages were transport cages used to move the animals from one place to another. They didn't live in them, kind of like putting a cat in a crate to take it to the vet.
I did! I'm just having a total mommy-brain day today. I actually got lost in Ikea! (In my defense, they've recently rearranged everything and I'm not used to the current layout).

Every year the circus comes to town and a couple protesters stand out there and protest about this. In our city we only had a handful and they stand across the street from the arena so it is not a big deal.
But this year we went to a circus in a big city instead and the protesters were numerous and they stood like right next to where you have to walk to go into the arena and so right in your face. They had some photos on posters that were kinda graphic. They had a person in an elephant costume with bandaids on it. But I don't know if they really got the reaction they wanted. Most kids were like "Look an elephant yay!" I kinda thought they were being disrespectful being so close to the kids and stuff. They were not rude or anything but I would have preferred they stay further back like they do in our city. No one wants their kid getting upset by that when you just spent tons of money for something that is supposed to be fun for your kids.
Personally I am not sure I buy they are being abused. They actually have breeding programs in some circuses and unhappy animals don't breed. They also are not going to abuse or hurt these animals because these animals are expensive and they are their livelihood. They want them to be in good health and taken well care of. Would you want to piss off an elephant you are riding around on top of or stuck in a cage with 20 tigers? Nah, I would treat them kindly.

totally and completely off-topic...Aardi, EVERYONE gets lost in Ikea. they recently rearranged mine too, changed the shortcuts, and they hadn't updated the maps yet!!!
i think they do it on purpose, so you buy more stuff.
If I do not park in same general area at Walmart I *might* have gotten umm a bit lost in the parking lot, and of course it is always better to be lost with a fulll cart in the blinding bitter cold and wind...yeah wandering around searching for your car....
NOT that has ever happened to me

My concern about PETA is that some of the more fanatic members are going to insist that we no longer have our animal companions, because, ya' know, the animals can't "consent" to being our companions and so, that's a little like an involuntary incarceration.

This is the same group that said ice cream should be made by human breast milk, instead of cow or goat milk because humans can consent to what happens to their milk and animals can't. So, I would not put anything past them at this point. They also once had obnoxious fat-shaming billboards posted that blamed obsesity on eating animals. I'm thinking, hey I'm a vegetarian and I am overweight because a lot of "vegetarian" food, i.e., pasta, rice, beans, nuts, etc. can really pack on the pounds.

I am also the type that forgets where I park and then wander around looking for my car forever. Does not help that my car is fairly common in color and model. I stuck some stickers on the back to make it more easy to see it. A thing from Hip Hop's Dance studio with his name and our stick family and a trip advisor magnet. Helps me find my car!

There's a store in London, England that sells human breast milk ice cream.
(I don't think I'll be making any plans for a trip to London any time soon though...)
