Wow he has set the world on fire with his comments about prejudice. I wonder how he will vote regarding Sterling. If I wasn't on my phone I would post the interview that has everyone talking
What do you think of the comments? I didn't read or hear the full interview, but there were things I liked and didn't like about what I heard of what he said. I think I get his point. I like that he, especially as a high profile white man (not that prejudice is exclusive to them obviously) is acknowledging his own prejudice and drawing a connection rather than just distancing himself as though to establish how different he is. Sometimes it seems like people make a big show of condemning really blatant examples of bigotry to in a sense make themselves look better and draw this really solid line between themselves and the people who have committed the offense, like they are defining themselves in opposition to people like Sterling, Michael Richards etc and in the process defining prejudice as this blatant, easily definable thing, of which they could never be guilty, overlooking or obscuring more contentious or subtle examples. Sometimes it seems like people are being hard on blatant offenders as a way of being easy on themselves. I think his choice of words was poor and his examples weren't great.
I also don't think think taking all this into consideration should mean letting Sterling off the hook.
