Anybody ever done one? My mom and I are trying it out, trying to "jump start" our weight loss. It says you can have unsweetened peanut butter, fruit, veggies, plain greek yogurt, boiled eggs and nuts (unsalted) in addition to the smoothies. My question is, it is going to take a LOT those things to get a good amount of protein. Going to try the protein powder tonight.
But I am wondering, is it REALLY so bad to have some fish or some chicken every day? The cleanse says, "No meat" but I really want to get a good amount of protein.
This one is called JJ's Green Smoothie Cleanse. There is a different smoothie for each day. Each one includes about 2 cups of greens (baby spinach or spring mix) and fruit. Today it has baby spinach, a few kale leaves, banana, strawberry and apple. You also add a packet or 2 of stevia and 2 tbsp of ground flax seeds. Optional - protein powder. So far, the Garden of Life chocolate protein powder is best. Their vanilla is okay and the spice vanilla chai is GROSS.
Update: Mom and I caved a few times. Day 3 we had a salad with chicken at Wendy's, day 5 we totally fell of the wagon for dinner. We were having company, so we ended it at day 9, vs doing 10 straight days.
I lost 7 pounds, but 3 came back. But that's still 4 pounds in 9 days. I returned to my regular eating patterns. I'm using MyFitnessPal, set on 1 lb per week, and I have been staying under that amount, plus walking 1.5 miles each morning and doing step areobics in the evening. I plateued for a while, and finally today I saw I'd dropped another pound.
Right now I'm trying to eat a smoothie a day, and then fill in the rest of my calories with lean protein. I am really trying to bump up my protein.
